Have patience iceroads. This is about the fourth time I've seen a takeover attempt by the mouth breathers. I'm sure it's happened more but I've only been on TER since 2009.
All we can do is try our best to keep "our" conversations pleasant. Talk around the negative, pot stirring comments as though they don't even exist. Eventually they get tired of talking to themselves & move along. Works every time.

Oh, this is nothin'. I have been on this board since the inception of the MN board, and I can say with certainty that the total shit storms of 2003-2005 make anything that has happened here in the past year or two seem like child's play. Hell, we had a hobbyist's real name and phone number outed on the board during a spat in 2004.
Like I said in a recent post, the guys just looking for some pussy will never understand the guys who are looking for something more personal. And the guys looking for "part time companionship" that goes beyond just "gettin off" will never understand the pussy guys.
It would be cool if two groups with different motivations but the same means of achieving them could join together in one club. But alas human nature seems to require Balkanization, we-they, marginalization. The added anonymity of any online forum just adds to people's innate desire to divide and diminish. It provides a consequence-free outlet for fucktard behavior that would get one "shunned" if practiced at work or at home. It isn't unique to TER, it's not unique to "the hobby" It's just the way it is, and will be for a long time. As a race, we'll either outgrow it, or perish--the jury's still out.

The real question is why do so many guys here not understand that their approach to hobbying may be the right way for them but it is not the only right way.
............ I will say that it has been humorous to watch the goings on the last few days.
Vorlon and OZ put the issue correctly, we have two different hobby goals in play. And FWIW I don't think the board has been particularly "mean" to women in any of the threads recently, and those ladies who have been challenged are quite capable of defending themselves. This board has gone through many periods where the bitterness, trolling and keyboard wars were FAR worse then this last week. If you want to see real conflict, look on the General Board once in a while. And IMO some of the newbs need to relax and realize when they try and tell the rest of us to respect women they are preaching to choir in most cases and no one is going to change their posting behavior because a poster said "Hey, straighten up". Those threads ALWAYS bring conflict. As many of you know I fall in OZ's 2nd category, I like my sex with some relationship, but I completely understand the guys who just want sex, period. Is that so hard to understand?
