...this is the same "reason" all ad companies are now requesting comparison photos of ladies, holding their id/license and a sign with their provider name. All of these photos are kept on file. The alleged purpose is to prove you are over 18 and the person in the picture.  

Well, those records are subject to subpoena or even review by governmental agencies. Even if a matter in question doesn't involve you, the companies could be required to turn over all of those docs at any time  Or, worse they could be hacked. Basically, the picture of your face (which is used for facial recognition) is linked to your name/personal information and your provider name/information.
