Since you mentioned Evan Stone, one comment...About a year ago, i saw him at Cutting Edge Testing....When i walked in, he was at the front talking with one of the women working there...Anyway, he seemed like a practical joker/prankster as he kept making wise cracks (in a funny way), he gave impression as the life of the party type of person....

What do you consider a 'porn star'? Someone in a certain number of adult movies, or simply someone who has been in some and you can google them to watch public videos? Does one become more successful when doing this?

Also, I have a male friend looking to get into the porn industry; however, I simply said I'd ask around and research. (He knows what I do for a living.) I wouldn't want to connect him with anyone who would rip him off or ruin him in any way, obviously. In any industry that can always happen. (Good looking young guy.)

He doesn't want to do gay porn. The rumor I've heard, guys have to start out in that to get into the industry. I'm assuming it's a first step for an expedited process in becoming a successful porn star. Is it possible to get into the porn arena if you are a guy and don't want to get bonked in the back door or give BJ's to another guy? (MFM wouldn't bother him.)

I figured this would be an interesting topic for lurkers to read, but also for those looking to get into the industry, male and female.

Thanks y'all!

xoxo,

Courtney

The first one is the most subjective, one man's porn star is another man's "who the fuck is that?"  In my mind, I think anyone who's done 50 or more scenes can certainly start using that phrase, over a hundred for sure.  Just because you can punch a name into a search engine and find a video tho, doesn't cut it.  I just did a quick search on Freeones and they have over 1400 girls listed as "porn stars" whose first name starts with the letter "A!" I'm not going go through the alphabet but the total number would probably be around 25,000 or so, right? They can't all be "stars."

When you say do they become more successful doing this, what do you mean?  Well-known porn actresses certainly can demand a much higher rate escorting, if that's what you mean.  If you're talking about more successful in the porn industry, it's been my experience that many of the people there are very judgmental about escorting and are offended when it's mentioned.  That's why there are so many UTR's obviously.

As to your friend, well, can't help you there.  Given my endowments, never really considered it!  I will note, however, I think the expression is "boinked" in the back door. ;-)

To me, a "porn star" is someone who:

    - has made more than 50 scenes
    - the scenes are distributed by a well-known studio
    - the scenes are on dads and not just on the web
    - the name is known to people who watch porn movies
    - people will go to shows like exxxotica and pay money for their autograph or for pictures

As for how a male enters the business... your friend *really* needs to hear Evan Stone's routine about becoming a male porn star - it's hilarious.  I saw him do it at Exxxotica a while back and it was funny as hell.  This site won't let me put a URL in the link field that's a secure link, so go to:

Seriously though - I never really looked into how to become a male porn star but I too have heard that most guys start off doing gay porn.  Probably the only ones that don't are the ones with already established porn star girlfriends who bring them into their scenes, or guys who are rich enough to start their own production company.

I shot a scene with Evan Stone for Penthouse and can personally attest to this. That man is hilarious and has amazing energy! No wonder all the ladies love him and all the companies keep using him.

Hey Courtney!

I did porn for a year and a half a few years ago and am making my foray back into the business. While I'm no Jenna Jameson by any means, I did about 20 shoots (DVDs, magazines, online videos, etc.) and developed a little cult following, which has really helped build a name as a provider. I was able to come into the business as a newbie and command a certain premium and steady flow of clients from when I was 19-20 up until now (I'm 24), with no means of drying out, so to speak.

Unfortunately for us porn girl providers who are out in the open about our off-camera work, there is  HUGE stigma attached with our alternate means of income. Which is incredibly fucked-up and hypocritical, considering that most porn stars engage in some form of escorting.

Need more proof? Go to any major adult talent agency website and notice how under the list of scene types that a girl is willing to do, there is a box for "bachelor parties." Funny how many of these bachelor events end up being a party of 1 (or 2 when the girl shows up!)…

It's all such malarkey and a bunch of bullshit semantics. Given the declining rates for porn scenes and the increasing number of girls entering the industry, who could blame a girl for wanting to subsidize her income with quick $$? Especially since a scene can take several hours to shoot, during which time you are required to put your body through the ringer with all these crazy, uncomfortable positions that are completely ridiculous IRL (but look good for camera angles).

Regarding your friend who wants to get into the biz, I would be happy to elaborate via PM, but here's the lowdown. Straight porn is very male-UNfriendly. Most production companies pay their male talent considerably less than what they pay the females, and the market is TOUGH to break into as a novice. The big name companies have a list of established guys they use on a regular basis, because time is money and they do not want to fuck around with someone who could potentially be camera shy and delay the shoot.

For males, looks and cock size only go so far. What's extremely important is being able to maintain a full erection for anywhere between 1-X hours, which is much harder (no pun intended) than you would think, even with a super hot naked chick in front of you. I've worked with guys who had the most raging boner, until the lights and camera came on and they were surrounded by a production crew of sweaty, fully clothed dudes. Then once the producers were ready to wrap up the scene, the guy would be asked to cum on cue. Imagine being ordered to cum in 1 - 2 minutes, with a bunch of bored, non-sexy people watching you!

Between being overworked and underpaid (and under-appreciated), many guys took to doing gay porn on the side. Some even went so far as to create a gay porn alias to their hetero alias! At least there they got paid handsomely, as they should be.

Of course, it's not to say that your friend can't make it in the biz as a straight porn actor. For all I know, he could be the next James Deen--that guy never stops booking! There's just a lot of shit to wade through  at the beginning, and it can really make or break you.

Anyway, I hope that was helpful. Am always happy to answer any other questions you or your friend may have!

Best,
CK

Well, now we are becoming escort couple :)

He always done ONLY straight porn so if you would like to I can ask him for advice

...if I can Google her and get at least a few scenes on different sites and she performs well enough for me to want more, she's a Porn Star.  Maybe not the highest standard for the title, but that's what I use.  That said, I've only tried to make an with one girl at this (bottom) level and we didn't end up meeting.  I use a higher standard when justifying porn star prices though.  Name recognition and performance rule that standard.
