on board -- seven of America's best, brightest and bravest citizens.  The attached link is to President Reagan's short, eloquent speech to the nation that evening. For those of us who remember, his delivery was brilliant -- it was at times like this that he was at his best.

Let's all take a moment today to remember the Challenger 7.  Their spirit lives on in every American.

living in my Central Florida hometown at the time. My teacher brought us outside for the usual ritual of watching the shuttle depart planet Earth. As a child, I thought watching the shuttle take off was one of the best things EVER. And the fact that we could do it from the schoolyard was all the more wonderous. Imagine the horror we felt when we saw it explode in midair. Our teacher quickly shuffled us back inside. We all knew something was wrong as did the teachers. It wasn't until I got home to my mom did I know and understand what happened. I remember that day like it was just yesterday. Cliche, but true.
