The problem with seized list

Although many express concern over seized list, these list are difficult to use as evidence absent some colaborating testimony from a person - I know of several savy agencies that deliberately seed their list with false names - both (i) well known politicians/public figures/judges so that if the list is seized, there may be reluctance on the part of the LE agency to reveal names - and anyone can pretty reasdily get the phone number for local judges, senior LE officials, elected officials, and even though false, once those officials learn their names are in the list, the list is discredited as evidence; (ii) ficticious names with phone numbers that go back to the agency operator - that way they know if an employee steals the list and tries to make use of it.

The Montgomery County police department is now in the business of running escort websites to catch the potential customers who use them.

Police said in a statement Monday that the department’s vice section, through plea agreements, “is now operating legitimate Internet sites where ‘johns’ are currently providing place of employment, and contact numbers as if they are communicating with the now defunct service. These contacts are being utilized to arrange ‘john stings’ and identify individuals on the demand side of human trafficking.”

The taking over of the escort websites is one of several initiatives the county’s police department says it’s employing to crack down on human trafficking. Officers are also reaching out to sex trafficking victims to encourage them to report crimes committed against them.

Police also say they’ve successfully infiltrated The Erotic Review, a website that enables users to share information about prostitution and rate prostitutes

has as whole been untouchable though other review sites located within the US have been raided.
TER's server location would not protect from trafficing charges, sex with a minor, rape, robbery or other crimes which are criminal charges in Netherlands.

TER is a public forum & anything posted here can be read by providers, clients, LE, stalkers, friends & neighbors.  Discretion is always required.

Most likely, the article refers to providers or agency who had turned over their pass word to their valid account to conduct stings...  hoping cooperating will draw a lighter sentence.  (Remains to be seen.)

That is until the word gets out and clients, stop using the service or the review site gets word & removes the profile{s).  Such operations only work a short time...

The story is datelined Dec 16 but is not a new tactic.

Well reviewed ladies remain our best protection.  Add spidy sense to that.  If a price is too low, some slight detail out of place, do not meet.

Best Wishes,
skb

Internet Agency with server in Panama goes down with 10,000 customer record.

Was a popular agency in Detriot, Miami and Kansas City as well as other cities.

And how did they get caught. Sigh... the SE Michigan Crimes Against Children Task Force sting at a hotel when 15-20 men met with porn star Brianna Beach, the 34-year-old star of such adult films as "Best of Blackzilla 2," "Bubble Bottoms" and "I Scored a Soccer Mom 4." who was charging guys $500/hr and they traced her cab ride afterwords and the bank deposit she made for (only $710).

An Internet-based client database was password protected and hosted on a server in Panama.

It appears the data base was not broken...  but turned over by a cooperating owner / employee.  It would appear that tax evasion is where this case unraveled.
