It meant mobility and independence. So if you compare to modern times, getting the equivilant - a car - would make one hell of a donation.

Was watching Rome tonight on HBO.  Great CG scene in the beginning.  A white horse was taken as the "donation".  Those Romans!  Always were innovative!

ROME was awesome. It's helping me cope with my Six Feet Under depression.

Can't wait to see East Indian Indira Varma whom I have had a "crush on" since Kama Sutra.
