In the Plaza - formerly The Union Plaza - at the head of Freemont Street. They remodeled that round, domed restaurant/bar that has been in about 100 movies and TV shows (Casino, Crime Story come to mind immediately) and bult Hizzoner the Mayor Oscar Goodman's very own hang out. Lots of retro to the 'good old days' when the Mob ran Vegas and all was great! The view down Glitter Gulch is spectacular and the view of the 'Hostess' Tits was superb - she is a bombshell blonde with 38DDDs (fake of course) who wears an evening gown right out of Ocean's 11 (the FIRST one with Frank and the Boys!) and comes around and makes sure everyone is happy!
The food was superb. I went a bit off the reservation and ordered the Wiener Schnitzel OMG...I've lived in Germany and I've never had anything like this. My buddy had Prime Rib (boring fellow wot?) and was very happy as well.
Is it the best in Vegas? Doubt it really, but it was one hell of a nice dinner and the experience was great. Down side, no matter what, you still gotta go through the Plaza to get there and its still pretty much a dive!!! Not sure there is enough lipstick for the pig that old downtown has become but they are trying!
Bob Harris...Thanks for posting it! Hope some of these places are stick around for a while to give me the chance to try them. Anyone else have that problem of some super places closing too soon? The vagaries of capitolism I guess..
Not super top, but, good steak and reasonably priced: All American at the Rio Steakhouse at Circus Circus. Off strip, Billy Bob's at Sam's Town. Prime at Bellagio is supposed to be real good, with a view.
Here's how you narrow it down: Check out the reviews on Yelp and Trip Advisor on the recommended choices here. They are objective reviews that are detailed and helped me quite a bit. Bottom line is this: Your gonna be paying a PREMIUM for any steak on the strip, and a few off. On a scale of 1-5 you should'nt settle for anything that is rated below 4 on average. I know i don't. SW steakhouse (Wynn), Strip Steak (mandalay Bay), Delmonio (Venetian), Craftsteak, (MGM), Prime (Bellagio), and Cut (Palazzo) are staples of virtually every top 10 list. I didn't mention Carnevino because, while the 60 day dry aged beef concept is supposed to yield a superior steak, the reviews for the place are 3.5 across the board. Indicating that quite a few diners found the experience below their expectations. Not surprising given the price of their steaks. There are plenty of good steakhouses in town, so use the reviews to narrow things down and you'll be fine
t-bones at red rock after a few hours of bowling nice aged rubbed steak view of hotties at the pool the fireplace is really cool locals hang out reasonable priced for steaks i like the humus too
