Japanesse do everything in large groups.  Go with one of the groups offer to buy them booze.  . Being with the group would be more fun.  They might use the machines in front of you

When I travel I take a bottle of scotch and a carton  of real american cigarettes  (duct tape & roll of charmin)   You'd be surprised what the alcohol or smokes will get you in some places. These are now luxuries that they'd rather not buy.
