Line between caution and panic

The deaths of two providers in Atlanta and Chicago have affected many people in this community.  I saw a provider this week that I have seen many times.  She told me that the news has made her so nervous that even when some new clients had passed her screening, she was still worried during their session and did not perform as well as before and the guys did not seem very pleased.  I told her that if after all the precautions and screenings, she is still uncomfortable during a session, she should stop seeing new guys or even take a break from providing.  It's not fair to the guy for her to give a half-hearted session.

I'll probably get blasted for being insensitive, but I wondered if these events were hyped by the media because they involved escorts.  Did this happen because of their profession and lack of safety precautions or were they just another two crime victims in dangerous cities?  I looked at the crime rates of the cities involved.  In a 2004 ranking of the nation's 25 most dangerous cities, Atlanta was ranked #3.  In cities of 100,000 to 499,999 population, Atlanta was rated the most dangerous!  Chicago did not make the top lists.  I looked at more detailed numbers for 2001 and compared LA (where I live), Chicago, Atlanta and the national average.  The violent crime rates per 100,000 population were as follows (N=National, L=LA, C=Chicago, A=Atlanta):
Murder:             N-5.5,   L-14.8,  C-21.9,    A-31.7
Forcible Rape:      N-32.0,  L-39.3,  C-No data, A-65.8
Robbery:            N-144.9, L-418.2, C-678.6,   A-1023.5
Aggravated Assault: N-323.6, L-880.8, C-930.2,   A-1622.0

I thought there was a lot of crime in LA, but Chicago and Atlanta had higher rates in every category and were way above the national average.  It's sad what happened to the two providers but the bottom line (for everybody) is to be cautious, be safe, be secure, but don't let the fear control and ruin your lives.

Though wicked people walk the planet, the thoughts and prayers of this community will outshine them. They are outnumbered.

Keep on keeping

this is the way i see it..you have a bigger chance of getting into a fatal car accident on the way to the meeting than actually something happening to you at the meeting...now does that stop us from driving everyday..no!!!so be cautious but there is no need to panic...if what you have done all along has worked than stick to  it.
but all this talk about retiring and guns and dogs in locked bedrooms,is simply getting out of control...this goes on everyday to people you never here about, this just happpened to get more attention, most likely because of what she did for a living...yes it was a VERY terrible thing but no more so than any other poor sole...
also i heard thru the grapewine that her boyfriend was responsible...
