Girls, what do you think of Provider Voting Parties

I was thinking if we each took it upon ourselves to organize PROVIDER VOTING PARTIES all over the country on November 2, it would be a great way to let our voices be heard and prove that we are not apathetic and disenfranchised.

we may not have a lot of legal rights and power as sex workers but we do have VOTING power
if we could get a couple thousand girls all over the country to get out and vote, that would atleast be empowering to ourselves
and as talk show host Oprah said today "if EVERY woman who did NOT vote in the LAST presidential election voted this time, it would DECIDE the election"

Also I was curious if anyone (providers and hobbyist) could help me gather a list of politicians who advocate women's rights. Are there any politicians who advocate legalizing prostitution or even any who advocate legalizing pot. :-)
Also, can you help gather quotes from the presidential candidates on women's issues and legalizing pot?
if you happen to have this information laying around , lol

I sent this letter recently to my local provider friends

"Hey girls,
This is your friendly neighborhood hooker Ms. Vicki
I am assuming you all are registered to VOTE
(if not what the hell are you WAITING for? go here now and register: http://declareyourself.com/)

As you may or may not know, voting this year affects us in the providing community directly, we can vote for candidates who are sensitive to women's issues and believe that women have the right to do what they want with their bodies. No you are not going to find many candidates who advocate legalizing prostitution but you may find some who are more sensitive to women and that is atleast a vote in the right direction

Do not be apathetic, don't throw away your rights, there are politicians who are trying to make abortion illegal (i have never had an abortion and never plan to but I recognize that women should have the right to do what they want with their bodies), there are politicians who are  planning to reduce funding for women's clinics, which can affect your access to birth control.

if you live in the Greater Boston area, and are a sex worker and have not voted before and do not feel you have the time, I, Vicki, will personally pick you up on November 2 and take you to the voting polls. Just drop me a email at [email protected] and let me know that you would like help

I'm also having a PROVIDER VOTING PARTY on November 2, 2004 from noon till midnight at the doubletree downtown boston (the venue may change , i will send out the exact location sometime in the next 2 weeks)
It will be a celebration for those of us who are standing up for ourselves, respecting our ancestors and letting our voices be heard.

You can make a difference and your vote is VERY important
it is very important to ME
and it should be very important to you"

You should post this on our Boston discussion board! I remember my first time voting, and I never have felt so much uplifting, when the president of my choice won, some years ago (yes, and I still admire him, without naming names lol) ! :) Everyone's vote DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!!!!

See you at the voting party!

Mel :)

know, dear provider friend. The trick to voting however is not just on Election Day, it's all year long. I do it with my wallet and my time. If I sense an injustice or an outright wrong, I will not give the person or institution one read cent or even the 'thought' of thinking that they bug me. So vote on Nov 2., not because your are some party gearhead, but because you care about the direction of the country. Politics is the worst institution on the planet these days and candidates at all levels, lie, cajole, misrepresent, distort, and STEAL. So VOTE because w/o this great country, FREE elections would likely not be anywhere we can have some honest influence. Vote because people died fighting for this right. And lastly, vote because if you don't then shut the FUCK UP.

Not only should women keep in mind that the current administration would like to curtail there reproductive rights but they also have a campaign telling teenagers & young adults to forget about practicing safe sex or having sex out of wed lock.  This campaign's slogan, JUST SAY NO TO SEX!! What an ASININE statement!  I mean in the perfect world that would be a lovely statement & if you are a teenagers reading this you should log out of this website immediately and listen!!, but for us young adults, lets sing it togther
" It my body, and
I'll have sex if I want too,
Sex if I want too.
Sex if I want too.
You'd have sex too
if you knew what I knewwwwww"
