Here's the difference, at least to me...

Nobody verifies you to become a member of TER, but both P411 and Date-Check screen new members in a similar way as providers do.  So OKs on those sites are more secure and valuable.

I have seen that some ladies ask if you are on the TER whitelist. Can anyone tell me what this is?

It's TER's name for provider references.  If a provider sees a client, and deems him OK for others, she can give him a Whitelist referral.  In essence, she is vouching for nim as an OK guy and not Leo, or some kind of psycho.

Each hobbyist member will have a list of his referrals on the same page as his reviews.

It's a way for providers to give clients a "seal of approval". Kind of the polar opposite of a Black List. The best models are careful about who they are willing to see see and like to screen new, potential clients. The website Preferred411.com also has a similar feature called a Provider OK. Check it out.
It's really easy for the ladies to give a referral. Unfortunately, TER's procedures are somewhat daunting for many of the gals and they think it's difficult to do. I've walked several through the steps and they've been able to use this tool to kind of say thanks to clients they like.

So it's not just a matter of clicking one button?  What is involved?  I have more than twice as many oks on DateCheck and P411 than TER whitelists.  I guess that means it's much easier to work through those.  That's a bummer if there is a 100 question survey for a provider to whitelist someone.

From the TER 'self help center':

"To whitelist a user, click on the "Reviews" link near the top of the screen, and then click "Search White List" on the left side of the screen. Type in the hobbyists TER username (or his email address if you don't know his username, which may or may not match up depending on what email he uses on his profile). Once you find the hobbyist you are looking for, click on the "Submit Referral" button. Only provider accounts can see this button."

I have a bunch of whitelists but to the providers I've seen my OKs on P411 and Date-Check are much more important.  I suggest you focus on them.

... and I always wonder why. Is there more to an OK on P411 that only the providers looking at our profiles can see? Like a notes section or something like that? I always just assumed it was just an "OK" and that seems to be the same exact thing to me as a provider using the whitelist.

Your response is incorrect. You can become a member of P411 through 2 provider references and use completely false information without going through any verification process. The same is true of Date-check although it has been quite awhile since I had an account with them. I am 100% sure of this concerning P411. Therefore, an "OK" on P411 is exactly the same thing as a whitelist unless there is something extra there I'm not aware of. Maybe many providers are unaware how easy it is to join these sites with false info.

DateCheck approved me based on provider references only.

P411 did go through some additional verification but I didn't try to use false info.  With P411 I used a credit card which is probably one layer of verification, they contacted providers I had seen and left me a voicemail at work with some very specific information that they wanted me to call them back directly and confirm.  Other than the provider references, I could see how you could get around it if someone wanted to be creative.

As far as information on P411...I've asked providers if it allows them to share info, notes, personal experience.  There is nothing like that on P411.  Just a section (like in the Client Area) that allows members to write their own notes for use in their own account.

... it was because a provider I had seen recommended it to me. I filled out the form on P411 and then had her plus another escort I had seen verify me directly through the site. I just didn't have full access until both had "OK'ed" me. It took one day for them both to respond. I never provided any work information ... that wasn't necessary unless I was trying to get verified without provider references. I never gave them any credit card info until my free 8 months ran out. Now I had given both providers my real name and I gave it to P411 as well, but I could easily have given P411 any name I wanted to since I had providers vouching for me. The providers would have recognized me from the email address, phone number, and session details I provided.

Sure, anybody can fake references and people do it all the time.  But I bet most people who join a verification service do it when they're getting started (just a guess here), thus have no references or don't know how to fake them, and use other verifications like real name and address, work #, or other paper proving they are who they are.  None of this is true of TER.  As for the believability of whitelistings, six of mine are solid and one is of a provider on the West Coast whom I've never seen or heard of.  I even PM'd her to ask why she'd done it and never heard back.
But you are certainly right that anybody can fake anything to beat the screening process.  All I know is there are very few providers who will accept only whitelistings, and many who will accept OKs from P411 or D-C.  If there's another reason, I'd love to hear it, too.

The ONLY time that is asked for is if you have nothing else to prove you are legit.

just because he did not rape or rob you...some sites demand you do that to keep membership. Both whitelists and OKs are only as good as the person giving them. I would not even take money from some of the guys women have given the go ahead. I know guys who are whitelisted and have several OKs, who have also ripped other providers off. Some women don't care what he does to another as long as he was nice to her...I however, do care. If a guy I gave an ok to goes out and hurts someone, I would like to know so that I don't keep giving him a good reference.

and he will be able to keep his TER screenname and whitelist and continue his little scam.  TER is not even remotely interested in my safety.

If a guy from P411 robs me, P411 will delete his account and he will no longer be able to use them as a screening service.  In my mind that creates an incentive for P411 clients to behave.

There is no perfect system, but I trust P411 infinitely more that a whitelist.  That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

to forward harrassing emails to TER in case the same guy did it to someone else. I think they do care, but they are not the safety police like other sites are, so they don't make it a priority. They give us a PO room for posting alerts and getting the word out just like every other "review" board, so whitelists mean nothing IMO. The same guy who made threats to me is still active and still talking smack about things he has no knowledge of. Had this occured on p411, he would be gone. I am not a member and Gina and I have had issues in the past, but I might just forward her his info. so she can use it for other ladies if need be.
