This has probably been on here many times before, but where is the best place to get one. I've been lucky so far with my cell, but getting nervous. Thanks for your help. Oh, and reasonable....
I purchased a TracFone, at Walmart, as a gift for one of my clients.  The phone cost me $5.00, and $36.00 for 200 minutes of text or talk time.  I paid cash, and didn't have to give any personal information when purchasing or registering the phone.  It's a small phone and simple phone, but it works well.

No need for to spend money on a "burner" when Google Voice is free! PM me for details.

Thats where I used to get mine, good ole Walmart. Under $50 usually for 1 month activated. Check'em out if u really want one. Just hide it well, and don't ever leave it on.......Good luck

I'm watching vacation now they are driving to Wally World bahahaha ;)

As noted, you could get a Google Voice number or download the "Hushed" app. You do pay for Hushed but it's reasonable and I like it fine - I don't feel the need to get a google voice number. Also a great thing to have when selling stuff on Craigslist and you don't want the crazies to have your real number.

Just be safe and hide whatever app you go with on your real phone. There are ways to make the apps "hidden" on your phone if you do a little research. That way, someone won't open it by accident or curiosity.

calls and texts. Plus I can get any number from anywhere in the world, and put my name/handle on it. It can also be hidden on the phone, separate address book, etc. Great value

These are still connected to your phone, not very secretive lol

All the google voice and hush apps won't do you any good. To totally replace my phone would be a major pain. You are involved in illegal activities. Sometimes the other side of an illegal activity might decide to take your belongings. I just don't want the digital finger prints on my smart phone.

I learned the KISS, Keep It Simple Stupid, philosophy from one of my college coaches. A cheap phone and if I need to toss it in the river I can.

use Hushed as a hidden app and password protect it as well. The popo can only search you phone if you agree to decrypt it (dumb), if someone else decrypts it for them (again dumb to share your passphrase) or if they have a warrant. If you keep your mouth shut and ask for an attorney, he can most likely forestall the warrant.

Caveat: Border police can search your devices!!

Mine cost me 19.98 a couple of years ago at WM...  but any place will do.  Always use cash & do not link to your real self.  $20 for each 3 months of service after that.   Shut off when not in use.  I delete all numbers in/out except when in use.  You can get them 9.95 now.  I did put my first one under a tire...  just needed to clean my tracks, LOL!  Yes, need to be well hidden.  No cross with my real life.

but I swap in my TF in the carrier.  No one would know unless I take it out.  Before I leave her, I delete her number, so the phone is clean...  and shut it off...

Walmart, Target, even major cellphone providers and office supply chains offer a Trac Phone or pay as you go phone. They are called burners in certain darker parts of our society. Buy one use it a few times, just toss in the garbage. When the number attached to the phone goes dead for three months or no payment is made to the account in a month, then the number will be recycled to another phone.
