that most hobbyists get refund checks.  Men with sufficient income to hobby at a decent level will more often be the ones PAYING additional taxes in April, NOT getting a refund because they overpaid throughout the year.  I haven't seen a refund check in 30 years.

Many providers go on vacation in April because its slow EVERY year, not just this year.

is a unique market.  Sometimes its slow mid-week, but weekends the local girls hit it out of the park.  When I fly over monthly from SoCal, there are usually a few working girls on my flight leaving early afternoon on Friday.  Sometimes, the same girls are on my return flight on Sunday.  So in addition to the local resident ladies, there are pro's flying in on weekends from other cities.  Business has to be good to support that.

...adjusting your donation accordingly.  Or at the very least, run a special.  Simple economics.

Are you independent provider or an agency girl in Las Vegas? I've been wanting to tour there but a lot of peeps said most business is via agencies.

has the most ISO's from hobbyists of any of the regional boards.  The indie girls that work the board seem to do quite well.  CV has a Vegas page as well.

I saw a wonderful indie girl today in LA that was running a "March Madness" special on a 2-hour session.  Saved about $150.

But I suppose it depends on the area you are in and your rate.

...despite utilizing all possible deductions - some of them even legal ;)
It's the price to be paid (literally) for some of us. I try not to let it impact my extracurricular activity too much this time of year.

Some of your deductions are even legal!!!  Aren't you a stand-up girl.  Lol

What's sad is when not all of them are legal, and you still owe money.  Sigh.

Providers are getting older. The guys are looking for younger talent.
Guys don't have time to play much.
Guys don't have enough extra money to play.
Wives are watching their husbands closely.

Its like any business supply and demand if you prices get to high we find other places to go. Adjust your prices and watch the business roll in😊

Take me another 2 weeks to catch up on my affairs.  Then another week or two to schedule something.

Or go tour...As long as you have rates that people have paid in the past it's just better to wait it out.  Lowering your rate or offering public discounts will hurt you when things get busy again.

and without trying to sound like a snob, pretty much only the "dumb people" get tax refunds. A tax refund means you loaned the government your hard earned money all year just to have it returned to you WITHOUT interest.

I think my last tax refund check was back in the 70's.

No it is as simple as supply and demand but yes it does cause problems. That why you have to be careful of not rising your prices
to quickly and keeping your good client'.

Just like consumer products that go on sale....

If you call it a limited time discount, you can always raise the price back to MSRP later, as long as you make it clear that no one is getting grandfathered with the discount rate.

Better to make a little less profit than to make no money at all waiting. ?

I don't think discounts should be made public...no.  If we are comparing consumer products to providers giving discounts do you ever notice how people wait to buy something until it does on sale again?  Some people literally only but discounted stuff.  Either way it's kind of a bad comparison because cheap guys are known to be hard clients and tough reviewers.

If she decided to give a "thank you" discount to regulars discreetly that would be different.  I know from experience though that when the well dries up doing "specials" doesn't increase business and ends up hurting it in the long run.

Disappointed? Hardly. While it may take much more work to find good ones, it takes much less money to bang 'em

It's also for those of us who are lazy. Do I really want to invest the time and effort in trying to invest those extra funds in something that will bear interest?

If its just a savings account, how much money am I really losing? What rate will I get from the account?

If I pay a financial mind to invest for me.....am I making enough interest to cover the payment?

I would rather just let the government save that money for me because I kbow I wouldn't save it during the year, I'd spend it. But when it comes in the form of a lump sum, then it is much easier to use it for savings (i.e., for me, paying down debt) and then spend a little too
