Who cares about the past.  There were no reviews and you just rolled the dice.  This is much better.  I do not care about the information is presented as long as the information is good, reliable and accurate.

Good question! Prior to the internet, it was City Paper, Yellow Pages (yech!), and under-the-radar agencies.

There were also magazine classifieds.  I cannot remember the name, but there was a magazine dedicated to the hobby that you could find in adult stores.  You could find providers through that but the success rate was iffy.

I don't know if it is better now.  Before internet, yellow page is the most common way to hook up with escorts, specially for visitors who don't know about local paper ads.  But yellow page is full of ripoff ads mixed in with legit.  Internet has helped minimize ripoff if one does his homework.  Internet has created a new breed of traveling indes that didn't exist before.  This is great for the consumers, but unfortunately, the rate has inflated  because internet has helped popularize the demand a lot more than the supply.

Hi Angie! No, the rates have not inflated that much? The top girls, such as at the Apres-vous DC Incall location, under the radar, were 250, and though Apres-vous is more now, I noted that UltraGFE and Beauties of Eden both have girls in DC this week at 250, as well as possibly SFE?

It depends on location.  In DC, there is hardly any infation because of the strong competition non the supply side.  In other cities like Philly and NY, there is definitely a moderate inflation from my experience.  But there is no way to compare the value now and then because there were no reviews and no pictures to compare.  I recalled booking my first outcall in a DC hotel from a yellow page ad and I could only get a verbal description of the lady. Another time I booked from the yellow page and I got a cash and dash ripoff.
