If you take the Metro, you might be setting yourself up for a long walk in order to get to the hotel. The Metro can work if YOU KNOW the hotel is nearby. I recommend calling the hotel and asking the staff if it's close enough to walk from the Metro station.
Hotels also have shuttle buses to and from the station, but IMHO--the aggravation isn't worth it for a one hour session.
If you want to visit Tyson's Corner it is best to have or rent a car and drive there. Between 10 in the morning and 12 noon or after 8:00 in the evening are pretty much the best times to commute there. Any other times and you will be gambling and probably lose: stuck in the slow moving molasses of Beltway traffic jams.
The holidays are soon approaching, so visiting Tysons Corner 2 weeks before Christmas is always out of the question for me.
it's still not a pedestrian-friendly place. The only hotel I know of that's walkable from Metro is the Embassy Suites on Leesburg Pike, pretty close to the Tysons Corner Metro stop. Other than that, best to come by auto.
The hotel shuttle bus picks up passengers at the Metro station, drives back to the hotel, and repeats the shuttle. The driver won't ask you if you checked into the hotel, so you won't have to worry about this. Not all hotels offer shuttle bus service to and from Metro stations. This is something you will have to check.
Hotel shuttle bus drivers appreciate tips--always remember that if you need shuttle bus service. I still consider it too much aggravation if you have to ride the Metro and shuttle to the hotel. Especially if it's a provider who is untested.
I had a 9 O Clock with a gal and ended up at the wrong Marriott. I was taking the cab to her incall to begin with, and there was no time to call another one. Got shuttle driver to help me out and he got a good tip for it... The other hotel was only 5 min away..
Look folks--the shuttle bus driver has to drive the bus in a circuitous route from the hotel to the Metro station and back, periodically all day. It doesn't matter if he has only one or a dozen passengers. The driver doesn't care whether or not you are a paying hotel guest, seeing a provider, or both.
Yes, he would appreciate a tip. Shuttle bus driving is not exactly the best paying job around.
Bus routes all through the area If ya dont want to drive.
But everything depends on time of day.. Least its cold outside so you can walk longer be4 sweating if ya security conscience about that type of pattern and the man watching....or a girl getting ya address from ya tags
