Late at night or deep in thought trying to figure out how you can get away to see the next hot thing on eros..

"What are you doing?"

"Talking with hookers."

"Oh, OK. What do you talk about?"

"A buncha' shit. They think I'm funny."

"Have you ever met with any of them...without me?"

"Of course not, silly. "

Then again, I spend all my time on TER rather than Eros, so I don't have photos on the screen when she's looking over my shoulder.

My wife goes to providers with me, so no, I don't have to hide eros.  She's on there looking when I'm not... ;-)

...but she always seems to pick the ones that are obvious fakes. :(

To deal with the "sneaking up" I stopped using our desktop for hobby-related surfing. Now I'll use the laptop on the couch so she can't approach me from behind.

I seriously don't think she'd mind that I was looking at escorts, but she's obsessed with the idea that I'm having an affair with a coworker, so she's constantly trying to "catch me" emailing/IMing the woman. I'm not sure how it would go over if she caught me writing a review.

Been there Lex... I use my laptop in the basement with password protect to keep prying eyes away. If she only knew what I was doing...

She stopped asking - after I locked the door to my office. There also the fact if she wants her computer to work, she won't bother me about mine and what I'm doing on it.

But, it's not so much her I worry about, but the little ones. That's the true reason the door is locked, the keyboard is locked out, passwords on everything starting at the BIOS.

And if all else fails, it's programmed to make thousands of copies of some lame song if I don't check in once a day. This overwrites everything until I stop the process.

I’ve loss tons of data because of this. But hey, the last thing I want is to find myself locked up, in hospital, or worse dead, and they hack past the locks and passwords to find a little know fact about Dad.

slipry; after your post I don't feel bad. I thought I was parnoid, you have me beat. You have to PM on your programming/overwrite protection. I like that. Keep my 10 yr daughter from trying to hacking my computer.

Even withpasswords you need to be cautious.  There are 100's of sites that sell snoop stuff-like keystrock trackers that capture everything you type-even passwords - some are quite small-slip in between the connection of your keyboard and the computer - (so always check (unless you have a laptop)

There is also software that does the same thing and emals the results to an address the instaler specifies every day.

If you have a home network with a popular router such as the LinkSys advertised ones (probably most) they can be set to log every site visited.

Recently heard of a case where an emplyee sued his employer - they went back and had logs of all his inbound/outbound traffic - even IM chat - his goose was cooked.

Unless you control the system, the routers, and inspect it every day, you may be being tracked.  If your wife gets suspicious and talks to a lawyer, first thing they will tell her to do is hire a detective and install trackers of this type.  Even if illegal and not admissible in court, it gives them a road map to track you and your activities, follow you, film you, etc.  I only use a laptop that I keep locked up, use passwords, clear history and cache each time I log off,  never use work computers.  If you have a cell phone, have the bills sent electronically, not by paper, and only to you.  You can even buy a seperate "disposable" cell phone (provided you keep it hidden) so you don't use your regular one and its only good for X mintes, not tracable to you.

A gentleman I know recommended Ghost Surf to block spyware and preventing tracking of your activities.
I use my pc through password protected ISP for access and clear history, files and cookies each time I log off.
Am I adequately protected?
