I've been noticing some providers now require you to fill out a form to obtain a password to simply view their website and/or the gallery section of their site.  I'm not a fan of doing this (and don't).  Just curious as to what you folks think about this type of thing.

Happy New Year to all -

Personally, it is a pet peeve of mine and I will simply move on and look elsewhere.  I can understand if they want to have some special or more risque photos password protected but not the basic information someone would need to make an informed decision.

The only exception was someone I saw regularly who because of work requirements in her civie job went UTR for a few months.  She sent the password to regular customers so they would know her schedule; however, I did not request the password and I sure would not fill out a form and send it to a stranger

I've seen a couple of ladies who do this and you're right, beyond a few extra pics, there's nothing "behind the door" that's not in their ads. I never asked why, but here's some thoughts:

1. Reduces web traffic by cutting out the gawkers and window shoppers. In this biz, it's not always best to be the top search engine result.
2. Cuts down on the time-wasters. By leading with the appointment form, she's gonna mostly get serious requests and fewer half-assed and incomplete ones.
3. Cuts down on spam.
4. Marketing. Heightens the "exclusivity" factor, piques curiosity (like that bullshit "The Secret" book, which was basically an elaborate marketing scam).

I have seen many more providers doing this lately. Personally, to determine whether I want to set up a date with someone, there are a few essentials. I check reviews to get a sense of her style and personality, I check her current rate on her website, since the rate shown in TER may not be current, and I check a few pics to assess physical attraction. If I need to fill out a form and/or request a password to gather one or more of these, I will just move on...

basically saying 'Pass my screening standards & I'll let you view my pics' which seems pretty arrogant to me.  If you need to know if I can pass your screening before you'll let me see the pics to decide if I actually want to see you then I will just move on and find someone else who is less self-enamored.  If you can be that haughty (I need to determine if you're good enough to see my pics) & be successful more power to you, but you'll do it without any contribution from me1

Some ladies have a good reason while others do it for marketing or other reasons.

A "good" reason could be something like they have a stalker and want to screen you first to ensure you are not them. These ladies completely realize they are limiting themselves due to the lack of effort and attitude of some gents but they accept that as a condition of their privacy. These ladies choose this method sometimes out of need, not want. Not letting a stalker see her schedule (calendar) or other information she may have updated (including pics) is a way to protect herself.

Unfortunately, I have seen and heard this story more times then I care to recall.

Those that password protect their site usually make me look elsewhere (my effort level and attitude as mentioned above), but I do realize there are some valid reasons as well

When you see those same providers posting pics up on BP by doing a phone search.

I've seen that so many times that I just shake my head in confusion....

As mentioned above, its funny because they'll post photos elsewhere that lets you into the site through the backdoor.

I don't date girls who password protect, and have dated an independent in quite awhile because the bullshit "security" isn't worth the date.  More than one occasion provided all info for date, and the girl either never responded or date cancelled because she left early or some other BS.

Not sure I understand the fuss: it's usually part of marketing.  I'm guessing some providers feel it makes them more exclusive and if so -- and their business model makes sense -- then more power to them.  I get a pw for some sites because I might want to see the lady in the future.  For others, I pass.  About as annoying as Starbucks charging $5 for a cup of coffee: if I don't want to pay it, I go to Dunkin' Doughnuts.  Doesn't make me mad at Starbucks!

I believe they do it to keep out the creepers, time wasters, and the LE. It also helps protect their civie identity

Thanks for the response on this guys.  Would love to get a provider's POV on why they do or do not require this.  Again, this is not an urgent thing and I believe everyone's input makes sense.  I'm just curious.

Thanks

I wouldn't require that guys fill out a form to see the website. Your website should be open to the public. I can understand locking some of the photo albums, but doing that to the entire website is a bit much. Out of 10 guys, I can see only one actually taking the time to fill out a form. It's easier to just look for another girl.

I have no idea why I ask people to jump thru hoops to see more ...
I guess because that's what we do to get what we want, if we really want it, we'll circle back... lol!
I always seem to be jumping through hoops in some way shape or form. teeheehee

besides, I don't wanna let everybody see everything... well, actually, I do. haahahahahaha
but I've got to maintain some semblance of ladylike behavior;) lol

there's a bunch of other reasons I could think of, but the number one reason I do it is because I can :) hahahah

.....and am MORE than happy to be passed up by guys who don't want to make the extra effort. Security issues can be a serious threat to our safety.
