I may have an opportunity to go to Cuba in early June. Has anyone on the board been there? Are their clubs and gurls in Havana? Appreciate any advice, I can't imagine that many US citizens have been there but that is about to change.

A very close friend of mind has been on two separate sepaticals to Cuba and has had a great time.  The one thing she did not see a lot of was anyone in the gay, lesbian, or transgender.  Being a communist country, and being a macho male community any outward sigh of anything that is not hetero dousn't go over real well there.  In an underground world which I sure exists I would follow the lead of the current participants.  Just remember the most prized possessions you have are American dollars.  Going back to my favorite movie "Risky Business", sometimes you just have to say what the fuck.  Cubans love their communist state, but even more they love US dollars.  Just keep asking I'm sure you will find what your looking for, and don't forget to bring your own condoms.

Thanks, good tips. I did not expect to find a nightclub district or anything. I kind of expected your answer too that things like that are not out in the open nor are they approved. One thing you don't want to do there is run afoul of the law and government so I would be careful. I have to think that Americans are still watched very closely in Cuba.

If I end up going I will post a full report on my findings, love to hear from others with experience there too.

I have nothing to add about Havana, but this is a great short story that fits well with the them of the discussion board. It takes a non-fiction context and teases out a fictional account. A really great read, with rich descriptions:

I was there last year, it was my 2nd time, I had also been there in 2012.

I didn't see anything of the sort.

But what I did find was plenty of local ladies that loved to go out dancing. Didn't need a provider on either trip

i am very sure that the local leo's would love to throw an american into the pokey for solicitation, combine it with a tgirl and you are going away for lewd and lascivious behavior as well.  not fun!

All good and sound advice. I would not be surprised if the hotel rooms were bugged too. Thanks.

Take a look and forget Havana except maybe for the cigars.

Makes sense for political reasons too, why would a transgender person stay in Cuba where they live in fear of being beaten and arrested. Found this book on line too.
