just curious about rip-offs

I am new to the hobby, so this may be one already researched. TSTEMPTED be kind. I was reading the 'rip-off' section and came to several conclusions:

1. "I have to go pay my driver" is unacceptable.
2. If there are no reviews, don't go unless you are willing to take one for the team.
3. Sometimes a rip-off to one is not to another.

There were no TS rips in the entire section. I guess that is good, but I see a lot of "just laid there", "should have stayed home", etc... in TS reviews. You take one of those ratings and mix it with one 'total rip-off' and it would be on the "black list". Even if there were a few off-setting average to high average reviews. Why does there appear to be a different standard in the TS market compared to the GG market? Especially concerned because I play both and believe that it is totally anonymous in both spheres (fantasy and all).

Could it be that the GG hobbyists are quicker to throw providers under the bus? Is it a Moderator preference? Did I miss something (probably)?

I would provide all the links to discussions and reviews, but that is not really the point. I need some education here, not a class in research writing.

I agree with you that at first glance this does not appear to be a very impressive performance by TS reviewers, however I did find three (1.7%) TS reviews in the rip-off section out of 174 total rip-off reviews:

The rip-off section seems to be applying a higher standard - if you use the TER search function to look for ‘rip-off’ performances you will find 1,413 profiles with a ‘rip-off’ rated performance.  There are 37 (1.7%) TS profiles with a rip-off review out of a total of 2,132 TS profiles and 1,105 (2.0%) GG profiles with a rip-off review out of a total of 55,736 GG profiles.  So maybe TS rip-offs are not so under-reported after all…  

Notwithstanding these statistics, after reading a great many TS reviews and profiles, I would agree with you that there does appear to be a different standard at work with TS providers.  TS Alter Ego has also lamented on this fact before as well.  One difference could be that GG hobbyists may have a bias toward ‘true’ GFE experiences while the TS hobbyist’s bias falls more into the PSE category.  I think a PSE hobbyist will generally accept or be satisfied with less in the ‘social skills’ category so long as certain activities are on the menu and are provided in a technically proficient manner.  A confusing factor is that I also find the term ‘GFE’ being used in both GG and TS reviews to indicate BBBJ and/or DFK/LFK as opposed to a more general ‘companion’ or ‘true GFE’ level of experience.  

I have found all this very helpful to keep in mind when looking at reviews – there are many highly rated GG providers out there who do not provide ‘GFE’ – so going by performance ratings alone is usually insufficient in discriminating between the GFE and PSE categories of experience.  Therefore, I approach all TS reviews as if they were PSE reviews and look more deeply to determine if there could be other attributes to the experience besides just the alphabet soup of performance.  For example, when I developed the ‘first timer’ list this was exactly what I had firmly in mind while putting that list together (yes, I said ‘mind’, not ‘hand’ - there you go again with that PSE thinking…).

BTW - Yes I know the profiles with a ‘rip-off’ performance rating review don’t add up - GG only profiles were selected using the “no” selection in the transsexual search box.  I came up with only 2 post-op profiles with rip-off reviews, so what the heck are the other 268 profiles with a rip-off performance review?  Some other fascinating factoids - At this writing there are 2,138 (3.7%) TS profiles versus 55,883 GG profiles available on TER (these totals would appear to include some profiles with no performance rating).  TER search indicates 59,995 profiles in total but since there are only 66 post-op TS profiles this means there are 1,908 profiles ‘unclassified’.  There are nearly as many ‘unclassified’ profiles as there are TS profiles?  There are 53,335 ‘escort’ only profiles.  Of the total profiles, 1,179 are classified as s&m.

If there is one theme I have been preaching since I became "TS Alter Ego" it is that TS hobbyists should stop acting like pussies and be more like non-TS hobbyists in demanding civil and professional behavior from TS providers.  The shit some guys put up with because the girl is hung like a horse is IMO incredible.  The only answer IMO is to be be much more selective.  Learn to say no.  There are some true gems out there.  TS Rachel in Chicago for example is wonderful.  And if you read through all of TST's data, more potential gems emerge.  Good luck!

Tempted, you were right to correct me about the three TS reviews in the Rip-off category. Somehow I missed those. Vodka?

I stumbled upon this new review on Venus. I thought her photo was hot too! The reviewer seemed to be really pissed. Should it go to Rip or no? Maybe she was ill and her boyfriend filled in!

At first I got confused ‘cause you wrote ‘Venus’ in your post and link when I’m pretty sure you meant ‘Vegas’ (there are several spectacular Venus’ so I knew you couldn’t have meant one of them).  Maybe it was (is) the Vodka…  Smirnoff perhaps?  Chilled in the freezer too, I bet.  Anyway, you are absolutely right, why this guy did not rate this one a rip-off I’ll never understand.  If you show up and the photos are totally fake (and not just the touched-up professional best-you-ever-looked type), you’ve got an automatic rip-off in my mind no matter the outcome.  Consider your nomination seconded!  

There are probably plenty more profiles out there that should be formally classified as ‘rip-offs’ and probably plenty more reviews where the reviewer should have rated the performance more negatively.  There are also some negative reviews where YMMV, something just went horribly wrong or that are just plain mean.  All these have to be taken with a grain of salt too.  That’s why we read them rather than simply go by the performance ratings.

Too bad about TS Vegas though - the photos are awesome – wouldn’t you just love to meet that model someday?  Still not worth TOFTT though!

Congratulations on the links, well done!  Now if we could just get everybody to do that life would be so much easier…

I stand corrected. I was directing the question to the Vegas review ...NOT Venus.

I apologize to all the Venus providers. I was so captivated by the Venus thread  earlier that I totally blew it. Venus of NYC is incredible. I don't understand how she missed your ATB lists. I am trying to figure out how to sneak away to NYC for a day! Her reviews are remarkable, her website is great, and she is damn hot! Can we add her to the First Time list at least?
