You will find out quickly not everything goes as planned and you will want to be alert and cautious as you enjoy your Tijuana Experience.

Top scams to watch out for in TJ in no particular order

1. Taxi driver - "Zona is closed I will take you to a massage parlor very nice girls there"! If you haven't moved yet just get out of the cab and get another cab. If you are already moving tell him you are not a tourist and to take you to the Zona and he can save his 10 dollar speech for another guy.

Taxi drivers do not make a lot of money nowadays between the rental of the cabs license and gas prices that make San Diego prices look cheap, kickbacks and tourism at an all time low some may lie and try to get that extra 10 bucks.
Taxi drivers get normally a 10 dollar tip from the massage parlors when you pick one of there girls and then on top of that will ask you if you want him to wait for another 10 dollars and by the time you are out your wallet is nearly 100 or so dollars thinner.  
So the taxi guy will get 5 for driving you there 10 dollars for the gringo fee that came out of your pocket to pay the massage fee and another 10 for waiting and another 5 for the drive back.


2. The Bill Switch - This has to be the oldest and most common scam in TJ.
This will happen more frequently in the strip clubs on Rev but will also happen in the Zona.
You pull out your dick -oops I mean wallet and hand the waiter a 20 and he has a one waiting in his palm and before you can say "TER" he shows you a one dollar bill in place of your 20 !
If this happens let him know that you are not a tourist and that you want your change back and find the manager let him know what happened and DO NOT TIP THE LOSER WHO SWITCHED THE BILL ON YOU!
Some places the manager is hip to this and will share the money with the crook but most managers will just tell you what you want to hear and as long as you get your change back that's all that matters. If you are having problems getting your money back do not be afraid to get the police involved or threaten police action.Normally if they are still holding out when you threaten with police action they will give up the money with the quickness.

3. Redbullshit not a scam but a rip off

Girls at Ab will sit with you and order a dink and the waiter will come back with a Redbull and you may think you will get a better prices than the regular fichas but then you will hear the waiter tell you 11 dollars! And the girl may act all innocent and say "I know no" that is was 11 dollars but she is lying of course. tell the waiter to bring a beer instead.

4. Where did the ficha drinks go?
This happens every day in the Zona. You may order 1 beer or 1 cubeta of ficha drinks for the girl and they suddenly disappear or get drank with the quickness.
Rule for buying ficha buckets If you get a break on the price for a bucket but the bucket instead of the singles in you plan to buy your Amiga a bunch of beers.
BUT tell the waiter only to open one and leave the others alone!
Heres why. He will open all of them and while you take a piss she will or a waiter will pour them out take them or a combination of the two! I have seen all kinds of wacky things happen to guys that are drunk and buy fichas for girls such as the famous take a big swig and pour the rest in the bucket. What's worse is when the girl is not in on it and you both go to the bathroom and the waiter will take one away? I have seen all of this happen so be aware. if it does happen to you go to the manager and they should fix the problem for you.

5. The street Hawkers
First off these are guys that have fled the US because they are wanted on drug charges, murder raps and everything in-between so be cautious when dealing with them. The big thing now is the massage gigs. They will tell you " Meester " 1 hour massage everything included for 40 dollars. that may sound good to you but that is just the entrance fee for the massage parlor. Once you get into the room extras can run between 20 to 100 dollars 20 for a rushed handjob to 100 for full service.
So now your 40 dollar one hour massage is now a 140 dollar massage.
Do not believe anything they say and DO NOT BUY DRUGS FROM THEM.
A lot of these guys have deals with cops and will turn you in after they sell to you. The cops often let these guys get away with a lot in return for favors. The cops very rarely do anything to these guys but maybe give them a night in jail if they act up or don't pay off the cops. They can't be deported and the cops have better things to do in the Zona like go after tourists for bigger paydays.

There are so many others but these are the ones that happen all the time.

Some quick tips for dealing with chicas
Always negotiate price first and try to pay after the session !
Do not tip if it wasn't worth it and tipping is not necessary
Rule of thumb is she is a cunt downstairs she will be a cunt upstairs.
If you do get an Ice Queen that changes prices or starts to act like a cunt tell her to leave and get the manager. He will give you another room later that night and pick yourself another chica !!
Beware of the 15 minute knock some of the girls will signal the counter guys at the hotel for the knock and before you know it you will here the knock while you are trying to get your rocks off just ignore it and do not tip the towel guy who is normally doing the knocking.
This goes on a lot during the weekend and sometimes the girls have nothing to do with it.
