Pre-COVID, is used to visit TJ 3-4 times a year for a 4-day jaunts. I could gather all of my BA buds, and even my out-of-state pals who were happy to get out of the cold or heat.
Due to inflation in general, and "Mexinomics" (i.e. raising prices to make up for decreased volume), it's not the bargain it was.. prices for an arriba in the clubs is now north of $120, factoring in the fichas and the room. The street selection is way down, the HK Oligopoly is crushing other venues, and imposing monopoly pricing on all of the HK Brands (Chevalas, Cascadas, HK etc). Savvy mongers with good Spanish are cutting out the middleman with Telegram groups, but my Spanish has decayed to where It's a struggle. Some things have gotten better .. the Gastro quarter, the Brewpubs, Telegram/Escort chicas are a good way of getting out of the Zona, which can be downright depressing after a while. I contrast that with a rocking, socking AAMP experience at an hour's notice, 15 minutes from my door. Yes, there's a big difference having a wide selection of 20-something Criollas with whom you can have a basic chat in her native language, vs a middle-aged hi-volume scripted trick turner, to whom you have zero common language and culture. I'm laying out the pros and cons, not kvetching .. sometimes things have run their course, you just have to know when. I can anticipate some responses .. enroll in a Spanish course, do more research, plan non-hobby activities.I'm looking for arguments for or against.

I have heard the bars have been slow. Thankfully the escort agencies I believe are thriving.
When I open our business I wanted to be 2.5 times higher that the bar girls 30 minute price. It took off at $150 per hour immediately and almost no one did one hour as guys drive down from LA and like to do 3 or 4 hour dates to make it worthwhile. So in July we started charging our opening prices from 1997 and it has worked well.
I have heard of bar girls asking for $100 and even $150 for 30 minutes of not GFE service. Hard to imagine a market for that. I always thought the lure of Mexico, was better prices better service.
The big Agencies (MLB, CuminTJ, Musas) are doing booming business. It's hard to get a slot at a Love Hotel on the weekends.
As are the Telegram groups, but you have to speak good Spanish and have plan B, C, and D if you want to be sure of getting a session.

It's ture that bargirl prices now are on par with escort prices. However, there is much less drama with escorts than bargirls. No pushy maseros. No chicas gulping drinks. Nodoby opening a bag of chips and claiming you must buy them. No robes to rent wihile going to the room. No early "times up" knock on the door. No broken promises of GFE sessions. Etc.
With escorts if you book an hour you get an hour GFE session. (If your're seeing Mexico Lindo Bar and CUMINTJ escorts, but not always with Musas and "second tier" agencies.)
My observation is those who perfer bargirls usually fall into one of two categories:
1. Those who have no experience with top tier escort agencies
2. Those who go to TJ to drink
One of the major "pros" that hasn't been mentioned is that prostitution is legal in Tj. While most people who hobby in the US think they'll never get caught but sadly that isn't necessarily the case. I know a guy who had a good posisiton in a major Bay area law firm who was caught, lost his job, and ended up working as a barber. I could site several other examples as well. (Don't forget that many newspapers publish the names of "johns" following their arrest. Which spells trouble with spouses, emplyores, friends and family.)_
