Thanks, for all the info so far guys but, I was wondering about how safe is it by making the trek alone? I have been to TJ once a few years ago with some friends but, not for the hobby.

Thanks, 2strk

TJ is just as safe as any other US city.

If you are walking to and from the zona during the day you should be fine. At night take a cab 5 bucks for your safety is a pretty good deal.

Around the zona just be cautious and stick with the normal bars and you should be fine

take care

First and foremost, don't be dumb.

In any foreign country, be respectful to all.
The worst behavior is being drunk and/or obnoxious.

If you are cool, you shouldn't have any trouble.
Still, you could always have bad luck, but walk fast and be alert, you shouldn't have any problems around the Zone or other parts of TJ.

Since this is your first time, spend the extra $5 and take a taxi to the Zone.
Walk through the gates that clackety clack and then see a yellow cab, tell the driver you want to go to Adelita's por favor and the custom is to ride up front with the driver. In the US and some other countries the person rides in the back, but in Mexico, as a courtesy, you ride up front. Unless the driver opens up the back door for you, ride in the shot gun seat.

It's a good sight seeing walk to the zone and good exercise but for a first timer, I'd advise you not to walk it.
