Recently reconnected with a SB from 2 years ago. I was more than excited when she reached out as we had a great connection. It ended in 2021 as she wanted more of my time, naturally I could not give her. She was involved in a vanilla relationship for the past 2 years that went sour.
As we were talking the other day, she wanted to connect via Facebook and IG to stay connected. I was a bit surprised this topic came up out of the blue. I’m married, she knows my real life name, not sure if I want her to know what actually happens in my real life. I was thinking of telling her I prefer not to. This relationship is not about mingling our real worlds. We share something special, but it ends after we meet each week. Has anyone experienced this request yet and if so, how did you address it? Suggestions are welcome on this topic.One possibility is that the FB algorithm somehow identified you through some shared connection or activity and she did not pay attention to default settings (yeah it's creepy).
Another is that she is trying to get followers to boost her cred as an influencer (it doesn't have to be OF).
Either way, you should probably ignore or block and move on unless you see some value in remaining friends.
It's a case by case basis. If I trust them I'm pretty much an open book to them. If I trust them. That's the catch.
I simply tell them the truth: I don't use social media. I tired Facebook years ago, gave up on it cuz it's a waste of my time. Never tried Instagram.
