I mean in the context of an appointment. If someone asked about role play -- what does that involve? I guess what I really want to know is does it hurt or is it scary? :) Do you have to be skilled in it to do it? Is it a BDSM thing? Is it fun?

I know I must sound clueless but its the first time its come up before and I never really heard of it

Generally the client asks the provider to assume the role of a certain type of person and the two people then concoct a situation regarding that.

A very popular one is where the provider is a teacher who seduced the student.  Or the provider could be a patient and the client a doctor.  (or vice versa)

If one of the players is a dominant type, perhaps with whips or other means of punishment, then yes, BDSM would come into play.

Not every person is cut out for this.  Some might be wary of letting go of their character and some just might find it too challenging and not do a good job of it.  I would not suggest doing it unless you felt comfortable with it.  No sense in having a bad performance.  Your client will be better served seeing a provider who is a bit of a thespian. (No, I did not misspell lesbian, by the way.)

By the way, props to you for asking.  There are no silly questions.

That's helpful. I guess what would be useful is to ask what the client has in mind and give some thought to what my personal limits would be and if I would be up for it.

I think what would be hardest is not breaking character and giggling! :)

But I do understand. There are some slightly different things I like, too. Not judging at all.

Gosh. Big world out there.
