New SA Scam

I’ve been off this board for awhile but I need to know if others are getting this too.
I will get favorited by a potential sb, with only 1 pic, and has only been on for a few days.  Then I’ll get a “hi, how are you?”  I can respond with gibberish and then the response from the ‘sb’ would be “wonderful so far “, I do more gibberish, and I get “I don't use this app often,Do you have any other contact information?”.  Here my last gibberish, then last I see is, “I’ll text you late”.  And they are no longer active

When I first saw this I did give my burner number, but I wised up fast.  I’m seeing this usually 4-5 times a day.  My filter is nothing further than 100 miles and most of these are in my filtered out box even though they say there’re in my city.

Have anyone else had this issue?

This has been discussed widely. Many of the Asian or ‘mixed’ profiles are probably linked to syndicates for ‘pig butchering’ schemes.. check the archives or Google it

I looked that up as you suggested.  They are not asking for money or crypto, they are asking in a script for an alternative contact.  Then the account is deactivated.

I get daily messages from asian ladies on twitter.  All variations of the same sc

the only way to stop getting spam is to hide your account. you can still search and message the gals you want but they won't see you otherwise.  the downside is if they are also hiding you might not get messages that could be interesting.

In the last couple of months, I have seen four or five profiles where all trace of the conversation goes away -- like the profile never existed.  Usually, with deactivated profiles, the "sent message" file still holds the whole conversation.  With these profiles I mentioned, even the sent messages are gone.

I spoke to a very experienced friend who has also noticed this, and he didn't have an explanation either.

I am not a technically sophisticated guy, but is this a group that has learned to maneuver behind Seeking's security system?

I saw this a while back and was asking around and got no good explanation until recently.  I saw on a post on Reddit that this happens when SA takes down/ban someone permanently.  I always wondered because there was always the did I get blocked or did they close their account scenario when you see the big canceled sign on the profile picture. lol.

Trying to remember the details and nuances here... In general, there are two ways for a profile to "go away"

1. The user asks to have the profile shut down or deleted.
2. Seeking decides to kill the profile - presumably for a TOS violation.

In the former, I believe the messages stay visible, but the profile name changes to something generic like "Attractive Member" and the profile can no longer be viewed.  So you are still able to view the message history, until it auto-archives at 6 months.

In the latter all traces are wiped off the site (at least all externally visible traces).  This makes sense as Seeking will want to expunge the record, so to speak. Like it never happened. Think of this like Twitter (supposedly) purging bot accounts.

My speculation is the profiles that you say have vanished were probably reported or we flagged by an internal review.

Makes sense -- sometimes the simplest answer is the best one...

The numbers of these fake profiles/bots keeps growing, it sure seems to me.  Very crazy.
