seems like a large majority, as most are surprised when I tell them I am single. (or is it that most of the single guys they see are much less attractive than the married guys?)

Single guys have time to chase pussy, married guys just want to get laid. There are other reasons too, such as for sport, kink, variety...etc.

Not long ago I asked two upscale prominent providers who didn't know each other that question, and I was surprised when they both promptly gave the same answer:  70% married, 30% single.  And one elaborated: of the 30 %, half were divorced, half single.  So only 15% of the total customers were single.  For what it's worth.
