How should a provider exit? Quietly? Give clients notice?

I'm a big fan of autonomy so each person should do whatever it is that they want. Have a big 100 city farewell tour? If you'd like. Slip into the night and cut everyone off without a word? If it pleases you. Slowly phase out appointments for the public, but see a golden few for the next few years? If you fancy.

I don't know if we need notice but I think it clears the questions if one just states that they have or are exiting.  No explanation necessary.  I was seeing a UTR provider monthly over a long time and when she did not respond I did not know if I had done something wrong or if something had happened to her.  Ran into her at a social event and she said she had quit to pursue other opportunities

Post on your local board and let people know.  I have to admit that I would worry if I  never heard from my ATF again, and would always wonder if something bad happened to her.  Letting people know prevents these kinds of worries, and lets your regulars know that you appreciated them.

You don't have to give notice and/or offer a "last call" but I'm sure you have a set of clients that you'd wonder about if they just vanished.  

was a provider that had used this business to work her way through college.  About a month before graduation, she sent an email to each of her regulars saying that she had reached her goal and was retiring from the biz in 60 days, and hoped she had a chance to say goodbye to everyone of us in person.  At 30 days out, she posted a nice notice on her website that she was no longer taking new clients, and thanked everyone for their patronage who had ever seen her during the five years she worked.  So for the last thirty days, it was regulars only, which allowed her to wind down some.  

I would suggest all of the above in some form or another.  Posting on your website, letting your regulars know as well as posting an official timeframe i.e. month, day etc.  I liken it to a real world job, or breaking up with an ex.  Even if you have moved on to something bigger and better or just tired of the hobby, there is always a chance of returning.

One group of guys will ridicule her for her "farewell tour" and insist she will be back in  month. Another group will literally stalk her with ISO posts for her literally years after she retires.

50% off, everything must  go, etc.

But certainly am appreciative when a fave gives me a heads up about an impending retirement. For one , it allows for the possibility of that last farewell session. But more than that if a lady just disappears from the scene there is a concern for her welfare.

Definitely the ATFs & loyal regulars.

This is going to be a major loss to the guys in Chicago. She is a really beautiful and skilled young lady. This is going to hurt as she is irreplaceable.

it works relatively close. You have many many one timers who probably wont see you again. You have people who see you twice or thrice per year. You have people who see you once or twice a month. You have people who see you weekly.

There must be 50 ways to leave the hobby...🎼🎧

Being a New Yorker, I have never had the pleasure of meeting you. But after reading your reviews now, you should give us about 10 years notice before depriving us of your company.

Do what feels right! Maybe let your clients/everyone know, or not. Maybe have a last hurrah of a tour, or not. It's really up to you: where you are mentally, physically, spiritually, etc.

Had a regular tell me she was going to retire from an agency to a less stressful, but regular job.  Still kick myself for not asking about keeping in touch 'just in case

We see tons of messages like "has anyone seen so-and-so lately, she's not posting ads anymore"  and then everyone gossips about where she went. Maybe she got married, maybe she DIED, maybe she's a junkie now, maybe she got fat. It's ridiculous the amount of gossip and speculation. SO, I suggest making it known, clear out your website and just leave a main page that says something like "thank you for your support but I am retired", also set up an auto-reply on your email letting them know if they email you.  If you just slip into the night without a word, they will speculate and think the worst. I would also let me regular clients know, thanking them for their loyalty all the years.  

Just be classy but firm in your choices regarding your decision.

By all means let your clients know.  Believe it or not, some of them genuinely are concerned about your welfare.
My ATF left suddenly late last year.  I e-mailed her once and got no response. Then tried one text message with the same result.  I had no idea whether she had been busted, or outed to her family, been assaulted, had medical issues or just quit.  Because I had enjoyed her company so much I was concerned for her.  Found out last week that she got involved with one of her clients and she quit at his request.  Would have been nice to know six months ago.

This is just a very general question that I've always wondered. Since TER won't let me into the providers only board, figured I'd ask my general questions here. Like I said, just questions.
