Is it the time of year or what?red_smile

Hey gang,
Just wondering, as I've recently spoken and chatted with several providers ... it seems to me that all of them have seen a slump in business. Is it the time of year, i.e., back to school, last chance for vacations, cook-outs and get-togethers that is slowing down the hobby? Is it the economy in general?

If so ... when, if ever, do you think it will pick back up? Any areas of the country where a slump isn't the case, or where you may think it will pick up more and why?

Just wondering, and hopefully getting the board back to the hobby some.

Take care and play safe,
Jimbo

what? ... you don't like all this GOD stuff?  ;-)

i mean for the love of GOD! ... what in Heaven's name is wrong with folks expressing their views on theoretical entities and ethical value systems that CONDEMN the very reason why Sinners like us have gathered in this here Bible Tent in the first place?

i preach tolerance and acceptance for all GOD's creatures ... why my momma said ... oh never mind!  LOL

;-)

[cough] [cough]

it's ok folks [cough] ... i'll be fine [cough] ... it's just this nasty cough i get sometimes [cough] ...wait [cough] something's stuck in my throat [cough] ... trying to ... get ... OUT!

Nothing wrong with it at all ... if people wish to discuss such issues and debate them ... knock yourselves out. Afterall, religion has caused more fighting, bloodshed and wars than any other single thing in recorded history, right? Why not add to the debates and angers and frustrations here, in our HOBBY?! Where, I'd venture to say, most of us come to escape the pains and realities in the world for a brief period of time.

I'm all for freedom of speech, and freedom of religion ... so post what you will on this board ... if the moderators don't delete it, then we have the choice to not read certain posts, or ignore those ones we don't care for. That's what I do ... why get all wrapped up in a debate that, in the end, really serves no purpose.

Although, sometimes it's good to just write what you feel and say screw it ... at least I feel better!

No my first name ain't baby ... it's Jimbo. Mr. Mania if you're nasty.

"It's the economy, stupid!".

But never fear...those federal tax cuts will save us any day now...and then we will find working WMD's in Iraq...and then we will find Atlantis... and then we will experience the Rapture...and then I will shut up. :P

My biz is off by about 30% and as usual my bills are as consistant as ever. I have traditionally experienced a slump in my industry this time of year but this is my first year trying to ballance it and the hobby.

Of course it is the economy.  Gents tend to be more frugal with their hard earned dollars these days and rightfully so.  It has been a bad year all around because of this.  All businesses are suffering for it, including my other one.

Also, August is usually a slow month to begin with.  Last minute vacations, getting the kids back to school and other last rites of summer duties are another factor.

It also depends what is happening in your area.  For the DC area, congress is back next month and the calendar is looking much better than August's.

Put all these factors together and it accounts for the slump.  So all we can do is hope that the economy will do an about face soon, wait out the summer rituals to pass and be more budget conscious ourselves.

there was a dip in my business in the summer, but I wasn't dead.

As for asking is it because of the economy? I don't think so.

It varies, from providers fees and if the gent wants to pay it.

It my business continued the way it is, I would be perfectly fine. If my business picks up, that is fine too.

I felt a dip in business for a few weeks but am busier now than I have been in a long time.

Summertime is always a slower time of year.

This business has trends much like any other. One must be smart in recognizing these and plan accordingly.
