TER General Board

Whoa that many on ignore?

We all know that if we come across someone, on this or any board, who we find rude and obnoxious (asshole in common parlance), we have the option of putting that person on Ignore. That way they will no longer be able to disturb your serenity.

So, let's say, after awhile, you find you have 143 people on Ignore, and then all of sudden you see a thread that you're really really interested in and you want to see what everybody had to say on the subject. Everybody. Even assholes.

Is there anyway you can take those posts off Ignore so you can read them without taking all 143 of the people you really don't like off Ignore?

I realize this might get bumped to the Newbie Board. That's okay if it happens.

but I have never thought of ignoring someone.  (No criticism meant to someone who does.) It is clear most people who post do so to share thoughts or to share a laugh or a smile (a clever swipe can be amusing.) There are also those few who need to work out aggressions.  It's easy to read those, cluck your tongue. and move on.
I also never understood why --since we are all here with our noms de plume-- anyone would use an alias unless part of the joke he or she is trying to share needs a character change.
I do know I would miss these boards if they weren't here. BTW, as an added bonus I get to hear from a number or real friends (originally met on TER) regularly on these boards.
I hope everyone has a great and safe Fourth, avoiding drunk or texting drivers and unsafe fire works.

Either originating from the Sports board, or the Political board.  If I sometimes catch flack from other hobbyists on the boards, that's not grounds for Ignoring them.

Try to ignore someone else and your list will come up.  There may be another way but that's the only way I know how.

If, Theoretically, one had 143 people on ignore-one would need to ask the question:

"What is the common denominator" ?

In this case-most likely the person with 143 people to ignore !!!

But I know I'm not one of them because you can't ignore an alias.  And there's no way for anyone to know my handle because it's never posted.
And now, a word from our sponsor

However, how would you have any idea what the thread was about if you have 143 people on ignore, if you were logged in?

You wouldn't be able to read the thread.

Also, I've never seen a thread with more than twenty different handles in it at any given time. Let alone 143 handles.

If you crumble at the mere sight of someone's thought or words that aren't in perfect line with yours, I would run, not walk to the closest psychiatrist to find out the problem you are harboring.

Unless you have him/her on "ignore" too?

that's why he's (she's?) asking here ...

and I am nothing like the OP, nor do I need an "app" to ignore some dumb fuck

Ok, I will confess, once upon a time I did ignore one of your alltime favorite trolls here, liorr. Not because of his stupid board posts, but because he was blowing up my inbox with 20 PMs a day, and I was a moderator at the time. lol

And there most certainly a way for someone to find out your handle. All they have to do is PM me and ask me. For a "small fee" I'll be happy to snitch you out, and for half the take, you'll be more than happy to let me.

I will admit I do have a few people on ignore but no one that posts here on the GD.
Just as some others suggested you can remove specific individuals off of your ignore list.Or just read the thread without logging in to ter.
Read the thread and if need be put them back on the list.I have done that where the thread had someone I was ignoring replying took them off ignore read the whole thread and put them back on ignore.
Love the ignore feature I don't use it often if it is someone I don't want to read their threads or responses I just skip over it.
I went to send a message to someone regarding a response on a thread here just to find I'm on ignore.....bwahaha
I guess if this person THINKS you are not into ladies you are put on ignore.lmao

focus Jake, focus. Whether you told me or I heard it on the eleven o'clock news doesn't change a thing. Are you sure you too are not an ESOL student? You seem to be having a terrible struggle with the English language of late.  I think I am going to rescind my offer to "split the take" with you. Like anyone really cares your "real" handle in the first place.

What were you expecting, to establish cherished meaningful lifetime friendships? The key is to extract as much useful information as you can and ignore the rest. I guess now you have 144 members on ignore LOL.

I still don't get the ignore button. It sounds like something for 12 year olds on Facebook. I don't understand why it is so difficult for some adults to just ignore a post by skipping over it.

An ignore button is good for things like stalkers.

But I personally would prefer a "smite" button.

but if someone wants to pay me for the info, I do know that you sent me several PM's from your handle and if the price was right I'd be more than happy to dig up the info.

and did you just admit to being wrong about something without being browbeaten over it for several days? This is a banner day, isn't it. Now if someone would just offer me a grand for your "real handle" we'd be getting this week started off with a bang.
