My understanding was hotel housekeeping is not part of incidentals, I was wrong. I was so prepared and pre-plan a date with perfection, a beautiful evening for a special occasion and the evening I will cherish for a long time...well that was the first half of my story...second was after a few days after that evening...my CC bill statement arrived and I've notice a valid amount for my hotel room then an surprise $600 charges for incidentals, I called the hotel to verify, details were, stained carpet and walls cleaning. I knew of an accidental broken glass of wine that evening but didn't do a lot of damage we cleaned it up pretty good and when I check out left the room in good shape...I was so piss, I didn't pursue to rebut it, it might entice additional amount, just requested the detailed list, email me the final amount an let it go...Those hotel and car rental incidentals are tricky..I had fun, then I got screwed.....

Wine stains pretty bad.  If you at all leave the room even slightly damaged you should do a walk through with a hotel clerk or housekeeping and take pics because now it's their word against yours.  $600 for a wine spill is a bit much unless it was worse than you let on.

They charged me an extra $200 for having to move the beds back.
Chalked that one up to experience.
Thank God there is a dispute option for credit card customers.

I'm no stranger to obscene hotel charges...they are usually errors though.  Since I'm a smoker I always get worried that they saw an empty cigarette box and decided to charge me for smoking in the room but luckily that's never been the case.

Could you name the hotels?  I'd like to avoid those.

Was staying at a "boutique" hotel and my date and I got a little vigorous on an antique chair... broke the back of the chair, in fact.

At the time, it seemed like it was worth it... but I'm much more careful now!

I was with my GF (FWIW.. a former provider).. in FL.. we were at a small motel for 10 days on the beach. We got a little carried away and i uhhh.. kind of lost it on the bed spread.  Her sister was arriving as soon as I  flew out so she asked that the bedspread be cleaned. OMG.. the motel went nuts.. charged my card for $1,000 for a damaged bed spread.. plus $250 for disinfecting the room plus a $25 a day parking fee. Meanwhile my GF was stil there with her little sister. I  waited till they were out.. wrote a terrible review of the place & told the owner that I would tell my card to cancel all charges paid to him. He backed off the charge.. but i  left the rotten review posted.

If it wasn't you? Hotels can't charge you that if you state that the room was in great condition when you left.   $600 is a lot for incidentals!! I have never heard of a hotel charges those kind of incidental fees & I'm in hotels a lot when I tour!!! Ridiculous!!!

you should have fought that . I would have threatened to sue them for my injury that occurred when the chair broke while I was sitting in it.

Nah. We broke it, I bought it. It's a great little hotel with an on-site owner that accommodates my every wish. Besides, we were too busy feeling sheepish and chuckling to argue injury!

Look at you, acting like some crazy rock star.....lol. 600 is kinda steep but it's wine on the carpet so...
I got hit with a 250 charge for smoking in a non smoking room...I was going to dispute it, but said "Hey, they caught me" so I just suck it up...or smoke it up.
But look at you, rawdy young whipper napper, getting all crazy and shit.............

You moved the beds, ok I get it. But why wouldn't you move them back to where they were originally placed?
Bad back? Too exhausted ? Or ...
Jus sayin

Hotel comforters have so much jizz on them, they're a forensics nightmare. That hotel was just trying to squeeze some extra dough out of you.

Yes of course.. I told them the comforter looked like it had been purchased during the Reagan administration.. That's why I went nuts and got it reversed.. I'm  not stupid.. it was obvious they were money grubbing..which is pretty much what my review said..

My eventually to be ex and I had a hotel room down in Mexico.  It was by the ocean.  She being a light sleeper had to block out the sound of the waves at night.  So every evening we would tear the bed apart and rotate the bed spring up against the window and sleep on the mattress now on the floor.   Every morning we would set everything right before heading down to breakfast.   They were never the wiser.

This was also when I learned that women have a lot of demands and are a pain in the ass.  But I was young (at heart.)

The only incidental charges I've ever incurred while staying at a hotel were for occasional mini bar, room service, or restaurant and bar orders. It sounds like you might have a case worth disputing. But it's your money so it's your call.
