To all of the mothers and mothers-to-be!

Give your Mom something special today!

It's bittersweet for me... my Mom passed away exactly 2 weeks ago today. Mom is in a special place and not suffering anymore

The first American Mother's Day was celebrated in a Church, which makes it a Religious
(Christian to be exact) holiday.

but it was signed into a law by Wilson, so I see no reason that anyone who wants to celebrate can't.

As it was a Methodist church, then by your logic only Methodists should be able to celebrate which of course would be absurd.

See Wiki below

When the first anything takes place in a place of worship that makes it Religious. Like most marriages are consummated in a place of worship, making the marriage a religious ceremony.

That is some kinky stuff. Anyway, I'm off to tell my Mom we can't celebrate Mother's Day because religion.

consummate

1

a :  finish, complete consummate a business deal

b :  to make perfect

c :  achieve

We all know a marriage is a business deal

I didn't say you shouldn't celebrate MD. I said agnostics shouldn't celebrate MD, I will add all other religious based holidays(get it holidays) in the mix too.

Origin of HOLIDAY

Middle English, from Old English hāligdæg, from hālig holy + dæg day
First Known Use: before 12th century

Being a mother is not an easy task, everyone should be thankful for all that she has sacrificed and done for us.   I lost mine 36 years ago, but still remember her fondly.

  Sorry for your loss.

A marriage was not consummated until the couple engaged in sexual intercourse. I would have thought a card carrying Mensa member would have known that.

try reading the entire Wikipedia page before sharing your vast knowledge of a subject. On the other hand, one of the more idiotic branches I've seen so bravo I guess.

Who cares when the first Mother's Day was celebrated or by whom?   Knowing that is okay and insightful, but...

Being a mother has nothing to do with religion.   Weather you are an atheist or agnostic has nothing to do with the bond between a mother and her child.  Keep all of that other shit out of it.  Mothers should be celebrated by all of us.

Without them, you wouldn't be here, or anywhere else... ever.

After all, it's just a reminder of what she spawned. Do you think she'll make him some biscuits?

Thanks for your kind comments!

Too bad that clowns like JohnyComeAlready and London Rayne had to muck this thread up. Both are losers, sighs...
