I'm not talking about the myths that civvie men believe, but specifically about those that civvie women believe.
Women usually have a good understanding of other women, but where are the civvie women most off base?
1.Myth- We have all been sexually abused in some way.
Truth- Can't a lady (in my own case) just like meeting niceguys and earn some extra cash?
2. Myth- We are dumb bimbos.
Truth- We have terrific marketing skills (hence websites), enough business saavy to get Bin Ladin , to come out of hidding or at least invite one of us over, and come off some of his dough( if given his email address). Not to mention having this secret society, if you will, of ladies and gentlemen (TER, and other forums, etc.)alike, discussing sex, politics, and there asses. Also,read some of the ladie's threads. The literary community is at a loss. So, dumb, not by a longshot.
3. Myth- We will fuck anything and anybody for a fee.
Truth- I screen out assholes(none of the smart TER guys, of course) they keep as S.O. on a regular basis.
4.Myth- That we are not clean.
Truth- We specialize in disinfecting and deodorizing our bodies and environments, from head to toe. We brush, floss and rinse more often than most (I hope). We shower, spray, primp and press as much as movie stars. I won't even go into detail about the things we do below to keep in tact. Ladies know, gentlemen should be aware. Inhale, ahhhh, exhale, ahhhh.
Sorry about the run ons, this is just my list. I know there are more.

Civvie women have providers and the job of being a provider (except they don't call them that) completely figured out.
No myths.

They believe
1) We are out to steal THEIR men
2) We don't have good self esteem/ or come from disfunctional families
3) We are all on drugs or crazy
4) We don't practice safe sex or good hygiene
5) We don't have families, morals, or good virtues
6) We are uneducated or unsuccessful and have no other option
Not all women outside the industry believe everything I stated, but in general all women believe at least one or more of the things on the above list.
Thank you Queen of Hearts for listing 6 selfrighteous, elitist views held by civvi women that further justifies my preference for providers.
Hey Cynical man, why the need to justify? I am a civvie and do not believe one of those things mentioned. I do, however, believe in live and let live. Not all civvie women are as awful as you make them out to be.
The exceptions make the rule.
I for one would be delighted to meet a civvi that didn't demonstrate the negative beliefs and character traits that I have spelled out over time. Until I meet this allusive and rare "exception" I shall remain ever-Cynical

Civvie women seem to think there is no way I can possibly enjoy what I do. Companionship with men THEY find undesirable for whatever reason? Well, if they took time to get to know people they might realize there is more than meets the eye. And if they had a more open mind, rather than sticking to society's tight conformity, they might discover what we do in this line of work can be extremely pleasurable and is a very satisfying way of earning a living.

This all depends if this is a friend or not .. Someone that supports you . Many people in my realm have found out what I do... 90% say.. good for her.. shes doing it all on her own... shes independent.. wish I could do that.. Or I should have thought of doing that.. The other 10 %.. well leave that to your imagination. I simply tell them.. Just think how rich you could be after every man you pick up in the bars on the weekends. Not to mention that other 10% of my friends are single and I am sure they have seen more guys that I have ever seen in the past 4 years of being a provider. I Just tell them they should be safe like me and have them fill out a form 
That never goes over to well
One myth that I have not yet seen in this string has to do with the men. I have not been in the business very long and actualy spent a few months researching before I decided to proceed with this new enterprise. One of the determining factors was from my reading on the boards I came to learn that for the most part the gentlemen involved truely do care that this be an enjoyable experience for the lady also and that they are not nearly as narsistic as is portrayed in popular media etc. I also saw that largely the gentlemen care very much about the welfare of the providers in general.
