I see this a bunch in ads lately.

$$$$ for regulars, $$$$$ for first time visitors/friends.  

What is the purpose of charging a client an additional fee because it is his first time visiting?

after the initial visit will entice repeat customers.  Almost like back in the day those Subway cards where you buy 9 foot longs and get 1 free.

And the real estate gig isn't working out too well

Not sure if this is the same thing but I see plenty of ladies who may have a minimum 2 hours or greater requirement but they will have perhaps a 1.5 or 1hour arrangement available for regular friends.

I think it's ok. I see it as something that just makes her comfortable.
Maybe she prefers longer dates in general and especially with  a new guy so that she can focus on giving a great experience and not feel rushed in any way. I take it as regulars who often come or people who have already met her may or may not have alot of time the second or 3rd time around so they will book a hour sonce the option is available for them.

Generally this rate structure is to connect with men who love longer dates but this is just a opinion not facts.

Unless she also switches them to the lower rate after the first time.  Why do I doubt that?

As an existing client you're a known entity.  The more times you see her the less of an unknown entity you are. And, this is good for both of you because, as time progresses, the less either of you need to stress about the uncertainty of who's behind the closed door....

makes sense, to me, anyway.

It's counter to the dominant corp biz model where-: the longer you're a client, the more you get charged for the exact same service as time goes on--- while new customers get the same service you do, for less than half the price.

background check costs money.  She's going to want her private investigator to make sure you are not LE, and if you are, that you are corrupt enough that you won't rat her out.  Then a financial check to see if you are going to be able to afford her on a regular basis, even taking the "regulars" discount into consideration.

Some ladies do this privately: either in person, at the end of the first date, or afterwards via email they'll tell the gentleman that he is welcome back at her VIP returning-visitor rate.  

I've only seen it on a provider's site once or twice, but know that quite a few ladies offer discounts or deals to repeat clients.

established clients are safer and should be given an incentive to go back to tried and true than trying fresh meat

I see it just like grandfathering. Rewarding repeat customers. But you know how guys are around here. Complain if they don't get grandfathered. Complain if they have to pay more as a first time visitor.

As you mentioned above, I wish more other businesses did this instead of the opposite. My phone company, cable company, bank, etc., always seem to have special offers and great deals for new customers signing up, which is obviously good marketing to attract new business, but how about rewarding your loyal clients that have been with you for a while?
