Been taking Tenormin for over 20 years. Suffererd ED from time to time. Viagra came out  and problems were solved. Had lots pf fun over the last few years and helped the bottom line of many wonderfull, worthy ladies. BP was going up over last year and MD increased the Tenormin dose and added something called Benicar. Had date with girl of my dreams last weekend (took a 20 mg cialis) and suffered ED. BP is really low (125/75). I'm bummed. I'm in shape, lost weight, been jogging all my life. IS there other solution or am I condemed to a life of celibacy? Somebody please help

Benicar (olmesartan) is in the class called ARBs (angiotensin receptor blockers).  It should not cause ED.  Tenormin is a beta blocker, which can cause ED.  If the problem persists, talk to your physician.  You might also have a better response with viagra or levitra.

Yup, what Far_Side said. Tell your doc about ED and he'll try another drug. 125/71 BP is damn good. Wish I could get that low.

Yes, Tenormin (generic name atenolol) is a beta blocker, which is the category of blood pressure medicine most likely to affect ED. One doctor wanted me to stay on it, because he considered it the most effective. Then another doctor switched me to Cozaar, which is less likely to affect ED, and it still keeps the pressure down. You still might have to use an ED drug with it, because ED can be caused by something other than the blood pressure medicine, such as restricted blood circulation in the penile area.

As for ED drugs, one doctor said it's not good for a man over 50 to use Cialis, because you're under its effect longer, and should you happen to have a heart attack during that time, they can't treat it with nitrates, which are taboo with all the ED drugs (whereas Viagra and Levitra wear off after only 4 hours.)

Caverject ("The Shot") works incredibly well for gents suffering from ED due to blood pressure meds. The hard part is getting over the psychological issue of giving yourself a shot in that tender area, but be assured that the needle is finer than a human hair and most report little to no sensation as the medication is administered.
There's also a tool for administering the shot, so the whole thing is a no-brainer.
I've had many special friends use Caverject and all with excellent results.
Celibacy is not an option! LOL! Talk to your doc and find some solutions. There are many.
Good luck!

Drugs such as Caverject and Muse tend to cause pain in the penis/groin/perineum area. The erections tend not to be as firm as a normal one and cowgirl is out because blood flow will be interrupted causing it to go flacid. But, they do give one an erection within 10 minutes and that's good. If you have long-term ED, one should see an urologist. He or she can prescribe testosterone to create the sexual feeling of youth, and drugs that will give one an erection that will allow one to act on those feelings. On the other hand, a visit with Ms Beverly should cure any man's ED. ;-*
