Often while I'm cruising the web I get a pop-up asking me whether I want to download the Macromedia Player.  Has anyone downloaded this player?  What does it do for you that Windows Media Player doesn't?  I note that some sites that have trailers (e.g. WeLiveTogether.com) no longer plays on my laptop and I don't know if Macromedia will help.  If you have downloaded it and recommend it, what is a safe site from which to download it?

Never download anything from a pop-up. The download will contain adaware that will make your computer run very slow. I would suggest doing a google search for the media player and you should be able to find a legitimate server that has the software. Good Luck!

When they say Macromedia players they really mostly mean Shockwave and Flash...chances are you already have both but if not check out the link I provided

BTW When you get a pop up ad and you are in the least bit interested in what it's talking about...Google and find the home page instead of clicking the pop up...like what energizer bunny® said you can't trust pop ups not to send you someplace that might give you what you think you are downloading but also add a little something to track you too(you just never know)

Oh another reason not to click the pop up is I don't like to encourage them even if they are legit

and trust it. A lot of scammers will create an "image" of text that says it is a link and appears to be a link to the text, but the image, which appears to be text, is realy linked to another site.  If you can't block/select the text, its an image, better to retype the link yourself than click the image.
