Who says it is?  My current partner, enjoys good old missionary, because she feels face to face is more intimate, and it is conducive to kissing.  Plus without the blood rushing to her head, or doing all the work during doggie she can focus on her "O".

Been told and have researched this a bit.  Doggie allows the man to fully penetrate, also allows for better cupping of her body and consistant rhythm.
