.. oh... and my sympathies to you hrnyguy31... I wish I could help you in this horrible situation. Please excuse 1woody and I for having a brief moment of laughter while you attempt to work things through.
I'd do that first. Second, have you recently upgraded to WinXP Service Pack 2? SP2 "patches" a bunch of stuff including Internet Explorer. SP2 can, on occasion, break as much stuff as it fixes.
Do you have a different web browser you can try, like Firefox? If so, try it and see if you experience the same behavior.
Sometimes you get 6-8 toolbars at the top of your browser with knowing it.. they get spammed in..
at one point i had
-viewpoint toolbar -aim toolbar -yahoo companion toolbar -Ie tool bar - some other search asst crap toolbar.. -not to mention the huge TER banner after all of that
If you have any of those tool bars at the top- right click on them... get rid of them..check off "address bar" for time being.
Is your windows taskbar at the bottom to large ? try adjusting it.. Sometimes if you have all this going on.. it makes whatever webpage you are looking at smaller... thus.. you wont see the reply box for TER
Add Pest Patrol, SPybotSD13 and Spysweeper to your reportoire. This should help you out. Adaware, by itself, is not enough.
If all else fails, save all of your data (not programs), then do a full software re-build starting with your backup disks. Prepare to spend a full day if you have a lot of stuff. Prepare in advance, to get the latest update CD's for software and OS's.
What loads of horse manure. I've been using computers for years. The only virus I've ever had was the I Love You virus, and that was at Work and not home.
If your computer is getting infested with Adware, malware and spyware then YOU are at fault. I've never been infested with this stuff, and was curious and have done scans to prove it. Same for viruses at home.
People recommending running adware/spyware/malware eliminators daily obviously are not practicing safe computing.
I've been doing the computer stuff for over 30 years. While I may not know everything about them, I do know a lot about them. Not only is it my avocation but my vocation as well. If you have only had one virus/malware/adware then you should play the lottery dude.
