I know this doesn’t relate to the hobby, but not all posts do…

My question is – How much do you pay, or what are you willing to pay for a very high quality, much
“attention to detail”, exterior hand washing, hand drying, hand waxing, windscreen cleaning (including attention to repairable boo boo’s) complete detailing?

How often do you need it done???

For those who respond, that want to know why I even asked the question, I will email you back some information sometime in the next few days.

Sounds to me like the pressure washer who cleaned your plane screwed up and has no insurance.  That and he probably low balled the price.  

I DID NOT get burned by someone messing up washing my airplane and causing damage, or lowballed, nor did I pay too much, nor does this involve the "Mile High" club, as responses on this board have suggested.

All I wanted to know was what I asked, there is nothing there for those who like to "read between the lnes/conspiracy theorists" as well as what I forgot to ask, which is how much for the same wash only, without the wax and detailing?

It seems that asking what I thought was simple and straightforward question does not always invoke a simple answer...

If I were to have an airplane- AND I flew it a lot personally, I would have it polished about once a week or once every two weeks... Why?   reduce drag = less fuel costs, more efficient wind flow and dynamics... same reason the airlines do it...  (while they strive to maintain the "certain smell" inside the cabin!)  Why would you ask...?

Must admit I don't own a plane but when I used to own a boat finding an efficient, trustworthy and cost efficient solution was always a problem.

Not a problem for me anymore though.

Don't get so HUFFY with your clarification.  Just think one little minute here..."From what group of people am I asking this question".  Keep in mind the SLANT of the mentality here.  Maybe you should have posted your question to some aeronautical site, and I am sure you would have gotten many, many legit responses.

and we would all get together and wash the 2 planes about once a month and the owners paid for lunch and sometimes the beer. I'm older now and my knees dont bend as well so I cant cram into a small plane so well. Now I stick to Muff Diving.

First message was playful. Second message got into speculation and offered a solution based on his experience.

YOU were being coy with the question, and did not offer enough detail on where your inquiry was coming from. Then after these two replies, you get critical, discouraging replies from others. It sounds like you never learned to be nice.

well it depends. I'm a renter, but a recent club member and there were always people who would wash the plane for a free ride, and I always needed just a little excuse to go flying, so that worked.


but I would pay money for someone who knew what they were doing to wash the plane and tell me about frayed edges, dents and little cracks that I may of  missed in my pre-flights. It never hurts to have another set of eyes checking out the plane.

Our company has a Gulfstream G550. It is washed and detailed once a week. The cost is $250. We use the plane often. I asked about your question(How often do you need it done???) I was told once a month and it also depends if it stored inside or out side. We have ours stored in a inclosed hanger.

Hmmm... that gives me an idea? Any of you ladies up for washing my car naked? The neighbors all complain when I do it, but I'm not as beautiful as you all.

I've got a Pitts and I wash it myself on any nice sunny day after flying.  I don't trust anyone else to play with it.

Mr. Graves excuse me if I caused you to get a bit upset but let me explain why I said what I did.
The way you asked is how someone asking what it would cost to detail a plane, that means most likely a pressure washer or in some words a detailer.

I was in the pressure washing business for years and know the ins and outs of it.  I know all about low ballers, weekend warriors, part timers etc.  Those are mostly the ones that will burn you, not all of them but many.

Also a few national companies but will not mention any names here.  

Now what is ther real reason you asked your question now that you know why I said what I did?

btw, I'm an FAA advanced ground instructor if anyone needs a little  book learn'n. I would love to help some women get in the air. well ok, guys too.

and I've love some help with my bi-annual, I'd be very appreciative.
