Any thoughts on whether spending the $1,200 tax rebate that was apparently agreed on today by Congress on hobbying would be classified as "spending money to boost the economy".

I guess it depends on what the provider spends her $$ on. If she then puts that $$$ into the economy, then us gents can pat ourselves on the back, we still are helping to pump up the economy...lol

I guess I'm considered a rich bastard by Congress even though I probably couldn't afford to buy my home in California at today's prices.  Anyway, with the current income threshold, a lot of people that can afford to hobby once a while won't be getting anything.

If I did get a rebate I would have spent it on the hobby.  I'll be OK just without it but just think it's weird to be punished for what seems like moderate success.  There are probably UPS drivers in NYC that make too much money to get a rebate.

...and why is it called a "tax rebate" when many recipients have never paid taxes in the first place?  I don't begrudge the poor some cash, but let's call it what it is, a handout.

that whatever monies I recieve, I will promptly donate to the hobby. Alas, I doubt that I will be getting any money. Somehow I'm never on the recieving end of any government handouts, just one of those that gets handed the bill.

I guess I should take my own advice and reserve any further commentary for the P&R Board.

if every once in a while those of us that actually pick up the tab in this country recieved something back.

I'm single, but I feel the same as a father/husband who laid out thousands on Mother's Day who finds himself the recipient of a pair of socks on Father's Day.

I wish I had seen your reply earlier, soon this post will be off the first page and probably no one will see. The current tax system does punish those who are more successful. Ron Paul and Huckabee want to abolish the IRS.

The fact is that the "leaders" of this nation has sold out America in more ways than one. They have sold out to internationalists, globalists, foriegn interests, etc and the American economy has been the sacrificial lamb. Now the politicians scramble to do anything to keep the economy gasping and wheezing along (tax rebates) because once people find their refrigerators empty then they might start to question America's "leaders" about their policy making and who has formulated all of these anti-American policies.

Hey what can you say, its what you get when you allow a bunch of Zionist media bosses and money men run your country.
