I got a text from a random phone number that MY phone number was on escortcaller.org and it costs a minimum of $197 to remove your phone number from the list.

Has this happened to anyone else?  What did you do?

Its a scam.Same scam for years and years now. Also entering your number will add to their database.
It was done it ladies also with more info leaked then just #s  If you can change your number thats the best bet. Dont reply its a scare and  scam tactic...

Good Luck this will soon die out and hopefully the site will go down...

any response at all is not a wise idea.

The best bet is to simply ignore them.

you could report it to the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center.  If I got such an email, I think I would mark it as "spam".

Better yet, enter a number for FBI and let the morons contact FBI and incriminate themselves!!

Why not report it to the FBI? It's a random text. There is no evidence that you committed a crime. Who knows how many non-hobbyists get the same text.

The Feds already know about this, it's been in the news for a few weeks now.  However, it's been the story of extorting money to unfreeze your computer.  I doubt the Feds would do little, if anything at all, to remove any RL info that leaves a Google footprint from these scumbags.

EU passed a law that allows people to remove information from any website upon a person’s request. Doesn’t apply in the US but there is discussion about it.
