Cock-Blocked?

I was having a late lunch and met a very attractive women. I invited her to dine with me and after a few protestations, she acquiesced. Naturally, in the middle of the afternoon thoughts turn to other things. Our waiter was a very nice man and caught the "drift" early and kept a nice distance. On the other had, the manager, I am assumming kept coming by to make chit chat and thus stymied all of my attempts to turn up the heat on this women. She was digging it, but felt very uncomfortable with the interruptions. Being the nice guy, I didn't apply any pressure to take the conversation elswhere, but I wanted to give that guy some manners on 'cock-blocking'that either his friends or his daddy forgot to mention.  What would you have done in this situation? This is a four-star place where I know too many people to make a scene. In case you are wondering, I got the digits and we are "dating" in 2 weeks, when I return.

calmly but firmly tell him you like his restaurant but wish it had a more private atmosphere.

Woody is spot on.  Simply tell whoever it is that's bird-dogging you that you're having a private conversation and you'll signal the waiter if you need anything.  I've tipped waiters obscene amounts when they have shown themselves sensitive to similar situations.

Psychotropic medication for the treatment of psychiatric disorders. Whatever you do, don't ever let a doctor prescribe HALDOL. It's trip that you are likely to never come back from...Thorazine, Haldol, and other medication prescribed by psychiatrists can destroy the lives of people who take them. Virtually all persons who go to psychiatrists are put on one or more drugs. However, psychtropic drugs, are unpredictable and extremely deadly, do not cure anything, and instead destroys the lives of people who take them.

Dude, I am/was a counselor in several drug treatment facilities. Today, I work in family practice which is much more 'tame'. So, yes its very real and very sad.

I would like to tip my hat to Mr. RehabRob for his work. Being a raging alcoholic & recreational(I love that term) drug user I am very aware of the work you do.

I have sought out a lot of private counseling over the years and truly appreciate those like you who give so much and in most cases for so little monetary reward.

God Bless ya Rob......stay well

I have seen people on a drug turnstyle when I worked in a large rehab unit... many of the docs over-prescribed meds in my opinion. I earned a doctorate so I haven't been the worse paid, but the work was long hours and thankless. Today, I work with many MILFs whose biggest addiction is valium and like substances, but knowing what I know today, I try to get laid as much as I can so the stress doesn't get to me. My philosophy today is to help people to understand that as compelling as drugs can be, there is a price to be paid and the long term effects are very bad.

I thought you were some schlep making 20K a year trying to save the world!! I'm gald this was your thread to begin with so I don't feel bad about taking it OT.

You are 100% correct about the pushing of pills. Over the years I've had "therapists" try to push everything on me and I've refused to take anything.(beside my recreationals!!) I figure whatever my demons are I want to battle them and hopefully some day slay them completely on my own, only then do I believe I could completely understand them and learn to protect myself from them in the future.(of course this hasn't worked yet but I haven't stopped fighting!!)

I think in too many cases illness or addiction is prescribed away and the underlying issues remain with the people their entire lives and never get addressed.

Just my opinion and I in no way mean to be preaching to you about your forte.

and pills. Everyone knows sex cures everything, they should be prescribing providers

Whoa. I don't prescribe anything. I build treatment plans and hope like hell that they are followed. Sometimes, they do involve drugs, but our philospohy is to ween people and 80% of every plan I write is behavioral. In the courses I have taught, I tell students the same thing. If I could give everyone a taste of the hobby, we'd be better off, but like the thread above talks about addiction; it can happen with sex too.

Ah don't let Bill bother you.....he's actually in dire need of your help. Maybe you can PM me some info and I'll do an intervention with that guy. Is it legal to kidnap someone off the city streets if you are trying to get them help?

not strike a nerve. I agree with Rob about Docs over medicating. That way they have a steady income. It isn't in their intrest to cure you.I once asked a dermatoligst why he chose that specialty. He replied " Three reasons; 1 I dont get called out in the middle of the night, 2 my patients dont die in my office, and 3 they never get well.
