Ah Summertime. The weather is nice, the birds are singing, the bees ( or what's left of them) are stinging...it's short skirts and dresses galore...

It's also a time to travel for many people. Kids are home, your vacation time is burning a hole in your company. Everyone is torn on where to go.....

But I'm curious, Do you have a particular goal in mind when you travel? For example do you go to see spiritual places, visit museums, participate in a sport or recreation, sightseeing, relax, visit friends and family, see natural phenomenon or historical places, etc.

My last trip to Dubai and Singapore  was  something... I had my mind set about EVERYTHING I wanted to do in Dubai, Singapore..... I basically recovered from everything I did in Dubai in place of sightseeing in Singapore... Shame. (Had a nice hotel too

and that is to enjoy myself, whatever I end up doing.

I am not one of those people who make extensive and thorough travel plans, complete with an iron clad itinerary. I am more of the "seat of my pants" kind of traveler.

A good example of this was my very first trip to Bogota, Colombia about ten years ago or so.  A buddy of mine and me went down there on a whim without so much as a hotel reservation or the least bit of fluency in Spanish. To make a long story short, we "figured it out" had a great time, and I have been back a couple of dozen times. THAT's the way I like to do things. lol

plan when I travel- usually when it involves family and holidays. However, for vacations not involving family and for free time traveling (which is incredibly rare for me these days), I am more like GaG. I've pretty much traveled like that my whole life except for three cruises I did. While cruises can be fun depending on the people you're with, they never give me enough time to see the destinations, and the food is blech 😖. And a day or afternoon in a place is hardly visiting it in my opinion.

Ideally when seeing a new place, I like to spend at least a month there to really get into the culture and atmosphere. The things I love to do when I visit new countries is eat local food, check out local live music, delve into a bit of history, go to the local botanical garden, and see the countryside and do something fun like hike, trek, canyon, camp, scuba, or some adrenaline thing like hang glide or skydive. And last but not least, check out the sex industry. One of the best strip clubs I've ever been to was in Prague- those ladies have some talent!!

Traveling is a huge passion for me! I'm fortunate that this work has given me the freedom to do quite a lot of it!

Eat their food, drink their wine, and fuck their women.

Obviously not in that particular order of course. lol

... the plight of a workaholic.

But they are nice places (in the US), sometimes I stay an extra day for some fun, and my goal is to try to find someone who wants to join me... hahaha, my dates are happy I am sure to have the peace when I'm out at meetings.

My best travels were solo motorcycle trips. Two or three weeks by myself touring all of the states west of Nebraska. I had no set destination. I either looked at the sky to see which direction had the best weather, or looked on a map for mountains with winding roads. I'd change course in the middle of a day if I remembered a restaurant I really liked.

Now I have destinations, but I enjoy the trip almost as much as anything at the destination. (Except for hobbying).

cooler climates.  During the winter months I try to visit warmer climates.  Lastly, the holidays are reserved for family whether it be Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, etc.

Sometimes I just plan a trip to see some exotic locale that I have not visited before or is on my favorites list.

But I would love to be able to travel just to explore new lands and sample the culture and scenic beauty.

I do try to incorporate some of that when I do travel.

Sadly, the airlines make it depressing to travel now-a-days.  I'm beginning to feel the was Scoed feels about it.

One of the two times I went to the Grand Canyon, I parked my bike in a turnout, and was sitting near the edge of the canyon, just looking. A car pulled up quickly, sliding a bit on the gravel. The drivers door opened, the driver got out, walked up next to me, took a picture of the canyon, and then got back in his car.

I heard one of the kids say, "Daddy, can we look, too?" He replied, "you can look at the pictures when we get home."

I am headed up to the "UP" MIchigan this coming week, I was in Costa Rica last week, and I will spend the week after either in NYC, or Atlanta, or perhaps back to Costa Rica. not sure yet.

Hey, somebody has to keep the airlines in business, right?

That and nice cocktail lounges. Tourist attractions like museums, statues, old buildings, not so much.  Although I will admit I was blown away by the Louvre.

Very, very fun perspectives!!!!

Like many of you, I (at least now) just 'go with the flow' of things...Even when it comes to picking out where to go. I actually spin a globe and where ever it stops I pick up and go. Be it one day or two weeks!

My current trip has me bouncing from the Middle East to Europe back to the Good Old USA and I told myself this time that aside from getting a hotel, I was just going to take it easy. It was strongly going against my instinct to have everything preplanned but so far it's been wonderful. Blissful even.....I think I even accomplished more this way and retained my sanity. My last extended trip really bothered me because I was just so out of my mind at the end. Which thus prompted this lovely question. :-)

Still...Such beautiful answers..........everyone is feeding my newly found sapiosexual monster side, Im so happy for no reason, lol!

Get away from the job and the kids.  Eat at ridiculously expensive restaurants, relax by the pool, see a show or two and have scads of sex with my SO.  It's the only time she seems to be uninhibited, when we travel.  When I travel I have no need to find providers, I bring the girl who gives me the best BJ's in the world with me.  I fuck her 7 ways to Sunday several times a day.  It's the only time she turns into a sexy beast.

When we are at home she barely looks at me and thus, I hobby.

Destinations include comfy bed, nice scenery, great restaurants, a pool/spa with a location -- anywhere within 6 hours by plane of NY.  More than that just eats into the vacation time.  Florida, the Caribbean, Cancun, Atlantic City, New Orleans, Boston, Philly, Chicago, Nashville, Montreal have been just some of our jaunts.  At some point we'll tour Europe.
