There are plenty of picture quizzes (and maybe even video quizzes these days) on "Born Female or Not?" Visually, it can be almost impossible to tell. Ever seen pictures of the Asian Lady Boys or kathoeys? Impossible to tell.
As for me, I don't want to go "there" and I'm afraid my big head would explode if I found that I ended up there under false pretenses. I think advertising should be open, honest and complete. Then I can decide and be prepared for the experience. Surgery has come a long ways over the years, and it's getting harder and harder to tell. Your concerns are valid, but I think there are many others who are also at higher risk for HIV and Hep C.
