music is distracting to me. I prefer the sounds of sex and silence.

While I was in Boston I did a few doubles with a a few amazing providers there, and while in a session, I decided to play some music to set the atmosphere. After the session, the other provider told me music can be distracting to her and she asked me not to play more music.

Porn is rather visual. Could this be even more distracting? I personally like it, but don't know about others. What's your take on this topic?

especially when it's a radio station I hate.

I asked one provider to turn off the radio once I started hearing radio commercials. It was a mood killer.

If I need porn to "get me in the mood" my first thought would be to find hotter women.

neither but most providers I have been with want some background noise so the room next door does not hear us.

In my opinion, it should not be played during a session.

I prefer to focus on the lady I am with, not on any action taking place on a screen

providers who played porn. I tried to position myself so I wouldn't have to see the TV.

Soft music, preferably instrumental music, is good for blocking any "sexual noises" from the hallway. I know of several providers who place the speakers facing the door so the sound goes away from the bedroom.

Except if we're playing porn roulette, where we randomly select a random porn and then mimic the action onscreen. Funnily, I consume plenty of porn privately, but not in session.

Low music can be good but I'm usually so focused on my partner(s) I tend to not hear it. Another exception: speed metal soundtrack for a particularly fevered, animalistic romp.

Though if my companion happened to be into the kind of porn I prefer, that could make for an especially invigorating time.

...play a CD, get a mp3 player, use Pandora on your phone/computer/tablet but no radio. Don't want commercials or dumb ass DJ's ramblin' on during my session.

I prefer no TV, no porn. Sometimes, she will have something XXX on the tube. If she ignores my hints or requests to turn it off I figure that SHE NEEDS IT to compensate for my non-porn presence. So I go with the flow and the ho. Hay, you give a little, you take a little.

With music, if I notice it and it's distracting me, then it's too distracting, so turn it off. But some music is non-distracting non-annoying background.  You can leave that on

Porn would be redundant, distracting.  Music, if present, should be in the background -- I assume it is playing because the provider is bored.  And frankly, if the provider is talking too much, worse, asking a lot of questions, it is totally distracting.

OMG- I adore heavy metal. Not necessarily machine gun metal, but hardcore, heavy stuff.

I myself am a melolagniac, so music is very integral to my arousal (well, highly preferable, but not necessary). I'm happy to turn it off if requested, but so far nobody's asked me to turn it off.

Certain types of music make me hotter than others. I literally turn into a selfish nympho with some music. It's like I go into a trance. Awesome feeling (for me, at least).

But porn really does very little for me. I'm more cerebrally turned on than visually so, so for porn to work it has to have the parts of a normal story: exposition, conflict, rising action, climax, falling action, and denouement. None of which I've seen in much porn (at least not done well), and even so, I would need to concentrate on the plot to feel arousal with the story. So background porn would just be distracting at best and annoying/buzz-killing at worst.

Now in a swing club atmosphere, the real life sights and sounds of sex are a total turn-on.

Porn is something to played afterward.  Most of it is boring compared to actual play.   As for music, jazz is preferred while playing.  Classic Rock, which is my favorite music far and away, can be definitely distracting.  Keep the volume low...though if you play it during cuddle time afterward, you may endear yourself.   Most of the other stuff I can either tune out, or is neutral.

One gal I saw had that playing, and I asked her to shut it off, but she refused saying that she needs it on to concentrate.

It takes all kinds.

I would find porn during the session distracting, but I recall one gal who had it playing while she got ready, I guess to warm me up.  I was a pretty good one too:  Two lesbians making out while a guy jerked off on them.

Music is usually fine.  I'm yet to have a gal play marching band music, thank goodness

Porn is a distraction for me. We're doing it; I don't need to be watching it at the same time. Plus I'm a gent who values GFE, which I don't find consistent with having porn on during a date.
Music has to be just right to work for me; Sade or something mellow and/or sexy.

...then I'll play porn. I typically like to play music during my sessions. It gets my gentleman and I in the mood, and creates an enticing experience.

I do find stimulation outside of the actual act/art of sex to be distracting, at least for myself. I like to be present and savor everything my sweeties offer and more.

Porn as foreplay/inspiration?  Speed metal for more intense sex?  I like the way your mind operates.  I just might have to add you to my bucket list!

I think really it depends on the flow of things. Music in the background can be ideal for me but only when it's slow and sensual. Maybe even upbeat is nice but nothing hardcore over the top. I can also have a great time listening to no music at all and letting our bodies make the noise.

Having a porn playing isn't really my style if the person is new but if I know them it's actually pretty fun so it can be a nice touch with the right person. I guess I'm just into variety :-)

music as it provides ideal ambient noise.  A provider I saw had porn on and frankly it was a distraction.  Was not even aroused.

... However I don't want to watch it when I'm with a girl. I want to focus my time on her, on the session, and the shared time together. Watching during a session would be a definite distraction that I would not want. That's just me.
