Some of the many reviews I've read here simply amaze me.  Not because of a hobbyists's experiences, not because of how fantastic a provider continues to be and not whether it's a good, bad, indifferent or exaggerated review.  The reviews that turn my stomach are the ones that are written with no concept of grammar, spelling or concept of how to write complete sentences.  IMHO poorly written (as previously mentioned) reviews will sometimes influence me just as much as a bad review (experience wise).

I agree wholeheartedly, although many of the reviews you sight are so inarticulate as to be pretty hilarious. A while back, I was considering compiling a list of the more common examples. Spelling of the word 'tongue' as 'tounge' (rhymes with lounge) comes to mind.

the British version of "judgemental". Some of it is Siri's fault, some reflects disparate educational backgrounds or countries of origin. Each to his own ability. The net is a big place and substance is key.

One problem is that there is no way to "save" or "draft" a review.  Then you can edit, revise and correct it before submission.  I cringe at some of the mistakes that I've made in my reviews and in my board posts.  When I'm pressed for time, I write and submit, mistakes and all!  I would prefer to write, save, edit, revise and then submit, as time permits.  (I am not going to write a review on my computer or post-it notes.  What I type goes directly into TER and TER only - no other "trail" or history.)

Not on here, no, but what I have recommended several times, write the review on a word processor program.  Save it to your computer, wait a while, then go back and look to see if you want to change, that's what I do.  If English is not their first language, they could have close friend who is aware of what they do proofread it before submitting it to TER.

is that two posters so far in this thread (maybe more? me?) made errors! So you are correct, there's lots of reasons and the substance is more important.   It's the occasional ugly thoughts posted that bother me most.

I can't do what you suggest (and said that in my post).  I won't leave any info or trail on my computers.  Not even a post-it note on my monitor: "Remember to mention to mention that she swallowed it all in the review."  Nope.  

"writes good" was deliberate and is an old joke used my many about writing well.  ("I got an A on my English test.  My English teacher told me I write good!" kind of jokes.)

When correcting or criticizing others grammar one should look inward first as in your message "you SIGHT are"  Perhaps you meant "cite" lol

I don't think that the other poster was trying to be funny when he wrote "many of the reviews you sight are so inarticulate" and I also don't think it's a big deal that he spelled "cite" incorrectly

...I read a post once where the poster said he wrote and saved his reviews as a draft in his e-mail. Once he had it the way he wanted it he would copy/paste into TER.  

and while we are being pedantic, doesn't every one love to be reminded to "re login again, your session has expired" I am surprised TER has allowed this error to remain for well over a decade, despite having had it brought to their attention numerous times over the years.

You login first. Then you have to re-login. But if you get kicked out a second time. You have to relogin or relogin again because you already log on before.  

Actually I am ...part-time.  I teach English and a literature course at a local junior college.  That is not my primary full-time job though.

I just read your 4 posted reviews and you are in no position to criticize others. There are several punctuation  errors and run on sentences among other things. And if you really are teaching English someplace, I pity your students.

1) As xyz mentioned, do it in an email if you don't want to do it in a document on your computer.  You already mentioned that you have a hobby email. Use that. You can write an email to yourself or leave the "to" field blank, and save it as a draft and edit as many times as you want. When satisfied, copy it and paste it to TER.

People whined and cried about how poorly I wrote reviews. I certainly didn't lose out on anything by not writing another review.

I wrote home about it but kept it to myself! Selfish on that one. I don't know if words could have described properly anyhow. Lol. At least not any I possess!

A poorly written review is better than no review at all, as long as you can decipher the pertinent information from their review.  Although, some reviews are so poorly written that it just make me go .....hmmmmm, whenever I come across one of them. LOL!

...either in this hobby or in real life.  I try to understand the fundamental point of others in all forms of communication - and those with poor language skills have a story to tell too - even if perhaps it can be a little more challenging at times to quickly grasp.
