There have been 1st ladies that have helped in elections, like Jacqueline Kennedy, but it is VERY rare. Even FAR more influential 1st ladies, such as Eleanor Roosevelt, Roslyn Carter, Betty Ford, and Hillary Clinton, seem to have little impact on the election.
OTOH, Theresa Heinz Kerry MIGHT make a difference, by spending Tens of Millions of dollars, or more of her own money in ads attacking George W. Bush. She's worth $500 Million, so it might be a really big deal.

Im sure Wyeehaa(I like that) is a much different husband and father than he is a president!! Most of us are not our jobs!!
