That seems odd to say if indeed her pictures are really her. I like taking pictures of things and never consider that it looks better than the pictures I took.
I don't have a need to photoshop my pictures since they are for me and my friends. I do see many pictures here of the women with blurred faces. Maybe when a guy meets her IRL she isn't hideous looking or something like that? I think that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Looking better in a picture, or in person, is not some weird concept that just applies here - there is a word for it. It is real.
I could also go on for quite a long time about how and why the image captured by the photographer will always differ from the subject in reality, and that the difference can be flattering or not, but that seems beside the point. What confuses me is that you say you take pictures and yet you find this a new concept. Have you never seen something that looked great, but all the pictures you took looked like crap? zigBecause photographers do not use wow bang studios anymore, just a couple of lights and digiatl photographer is so svere. Even the greatest beauty needs air attention on the computer to adjust for lack of crap lighting making thinks look a bit odd. So that then makes the girl look a bit like a hard robot, but everyine is much softer looking in the flesh hence why people often look better in the flesh becuase they appear softer.
