An interesting article on the courtesan.

Let me know your thoughts, I thought it was well written and pretty accurate.

Enjoy

I think the writer was aiming for elegance in his style of prose, but ended up more pretentious than elegant IMO. This detracted a bit from his actual message, which I agreed with almost completely.

Some writers try to sound like John Steinbeck and end up sounding more like Duplicitouslust, but I agree his overall message was on point.

I did like his Perrier-Jouët to Cristal comparison. It reminds me that a woman can't just slap a high price tag on herself, advertise that she is NOT a hooker, but is instead a "courtesan" with "class" and by doing so elevate herself by marketing into something she really is not. Just like when buying that overpriced swill Cristal, paying a grand an hour for a woman who advertises herself as a courtesan often just gets you a date with an overpriced hooker with delusions of grandeur.

The writing was a little over the top for me. Some writers can pull off this "style" of writing while others just seem like a poor copy. He was definitely trying too hard and it showed in every other sentence. I'm not quite sure who he was trying to sound like, but the pompous writing style made it hard for me to focus on the message. Maybe I have ADHD.

that cancellation fees are a good thing.

Courtesans=hookers=escorts=call girl=prostitutes=sex for money

Amazing that people find the different verbiage has a different meaning.  That is "some people".  I think the same ones that pay a deposit and cancellation fee.

That article is perfect, I align with almost every word.

This is such a perfect arrangement for both parties, we both get exactly what we want and neither of us has to deal with the other's bullshit. Just fucking perfect!

I had to abandon ship after a couple of paragraphs, so I have no idea what he was trying to say. I don't object to a flowery writing style, but this was particularly tortured and pretentious. Maybe I couldn't stick with it because i'm not an "elite courtesan",  just a hooker?

I disagree with the Steinbeck comparison though, I find his style very clear and uncluttered. Maybe Dickens

I think the elite courtesans would be quite upset to know that most know that's all BS.

Except for the BSUs who think all hookers are elite courtesans.

And I apologize to all sanitary engineers who are busy with the garbage.

sex for money=courtesan
sex for money=hooker
sex for money=prostitute
sex for money="elite" courtesan
sex for money=call girl
sex for money=escort

And the list goes on.

I'm sure that Ben Carson really believes he was offered a scholarship to West Point too.

I think it is assumption that there are beautiful "courtesans" just waiting for the man to call.  There are certainly more available civvies than courtesans.
The article doesn't point out that selling anything other than time is illegal in most US states.  There is that risk.
There is really no solid way to measure therefore I feel a GREAT assumption that ladies that sleep with 100's of people annually are less likely to carry STD's than someone that sleeps with far less.  Honestly it's a simple matter of numbers, and they are in favor of the civvies.
Lastly the "manager" is real and very often "independents" are NOT that.  It can range from "slavery" to simple BF pressure to supply. There is some exploitation of women involved, not all are volunteers.  As to waiting on welfare or handouts, most operate with cash only and some "obligations" probably go unpaid, which in essence nullifies the handout statements
In a nutshell the article glamorizes a hobby that is not near that glamorous.  Sorry we just see it different.

Responsible behavior is a lot more involved.

A person whose livelihood depends on their health and reputation is going to be a lot safer than a civie who may be looking for love in all the wrong places (bars, etc.)

While not exactly peered review research, my own experience bears this out.  I've been with hundreds of providers over the last 40 years with nary an STD from any of them; whereas I picked up 3 STDs in a matter of a few short years from a half dozen or so civies I canoodled with.

As for the glamorous things, I'd say glamor is as glamor does

Girls get a big head about themselves. Sure we offer a service; its risky as hell but done right there's a lovely reward but to have some dipshit waxing wannabe Victorian poetic over the comparison of bubblies and implying theres an innate intellectual in every 'courtesan' is just...ridiculous.

Someone is going to read this and have airy delusions on how men view us. Don't make it complicated.

I read through most of the drivel and overall, agree but I'm not sucking this dudes dick for an article 12 paragraphs too long.
