Ladies,

Fees for your services typically range from several hundred dollars to potentially thousands of dollars.  Most of these transactions are in cash.  Do you care what denominations guys use?  10, 20, 50, 100? other?  Do you prefer a mix of denominations?

I fly over, work for a few weeks and be a tourist as I travel but I don't have a US bank account so I'm carrying cash around until I can find a western union to transfer some to Australia. I often find I'll have three appointments in a day and all three gents will pay me in $20's. My fees are very reasonable naturally, but after a few days I find I have a lump of $20's and I start praying to a God I do t believe in to send me a gent with Benjamin's :)
I can use $20's to pay for hotel bills and food and gas etc but when I tried to go into a bank to change loads of $20's to $100's they refused to do it unless I was a customer!! I had to convert to Australian dollars at a money change place instead.

This is a long winded way of saying that maybe it's a question that can be addressed with individual providers, after screening?

as long as you're verified of course. But, if it is cash I like larger bills. Just easier to carry than a huge wad of $10's

I asked this question when first starting out and got some good advice. (Thanks, Julia :)) I use a mix. If the appointment is $400-ish, I'll put $300 in Benjamins and $20's for the last hundred. Twentys are convenient to spend, hundreds are easy to carry. No complaints on this ever...

Why not open up an account in Australia with an American or other overseas bank with branches in Australia and the US? Possibilities include: ABN AMRO, Bank of America, Barclays, Citibank, HSBC, ING, JPMorgan Chase, and others.

When I go to the grocery store to do my shopping, I pay for the groceries by debit card.  I always like to get a little cash back, so I press the "cash back" button and enter $20 to receive in change.

After the machine approves the transaction, the clerk at the check stand asks me:  "How would you like your change?  A 20? Two 10s? A 10 and two 5s?"

My response:  "I would like it in hundreds!"

... every time he gets in line at the bank to draw out a handful of fifties or hundreds? Especially if he practices his hobby weekly as so many on here claim to do.

The ATM doesn't give quizzing looks the way a teller can.

I apologize for this being a bit off topic.

For years, since long before I started P4P, I go to the bank 1 to 5 times a month and pull out cash, from a teller, in mostly hundreds and some fifty's in the four figures range. I have my cards for emergencies, but I just prefer to use cash, I'm just that guy.

Anyways, I have never once got a sideways look or a vibe from a teller. When it comes to money, they're like doctors, they've seen it all and just don't care. They know there's plenty of people like me who just use cash, or they think you're buying an old car, but mostly, like I said, they don't care.

Seriously, what are you talking about with "draw attention to himself at the bank"?! Do you honestly think the teller is thinking "that guy wanted two grand in cash, I bet he's on his way to an escort. I'm calling the cops as soon as he's out the door." Paranoid much? LOL!

Tellers don't think anything about it, and if they did, why do you care?

a valuable service.  Am betting most, if not all of your clients would pay you in whatever denomination you asked them.  The more gentlemanly ones, would take some of the 20s off your hands and exchange them for 100s.  I know I would, especially if you let me know in advance.

Am confident you are more than articulate enough to ask them in a way that would make them bend over backwards to accommodate you.

Don't get me upset.  My bank (Chase) will not exchange 20's for 100's without an account and making a record of the conversion.  Bank won't tell me if it is a corporate policy or a banking regulation.  Looking for a new bank.  I thought it was all interchangeable legal tender.  More big brother.  Very upset with Fed proposal to do away with 100's.  The Federal Reserve, Treasury Department and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau want to track all personal transactions.  Real intrusion on personal privacy.

Having said that, I do 20's up to 500 and 100's after that.  100's are the new 20's.

cash a check twice a month on average, enough to cover about a dozen hours of hobbying, including tips.  I just keep it locked in my desk and then draw it down as I need it.  When I get down to only enough for one more two-hour session, I cash another check.  I do all 100's this way, which are easy to conceal on my person.  I don't want someone to say to me, "Wow, look at that bulge in your pants!  Are you just happy to see me, or did you go to the ATM?"

If you're near a casino, you can feed some of your 20s into a slot machine, hit the cash out button, then take the ticket to one of those ticket redemption machine.  Most of those redemption machines will dispense $100 bills.  I often do that when I'm vacationing in Las Vegas and I have too many 20s, since I like to use 100s when I see providers.

There and clients who would  not mind to rob you.

Why you said that so loud ? Naive girl .. be safe now.

Wires and non cash transactions  do eliminate those  risks and for gentlemen and for ladies.

it is not ONLY ladies  can be attacked. I am sure I do not need to remind about clients robbed and killed.

Why  you people love care cash - who knows.

 Trust issues ?

CAUTION:  Try it first with small amounts to make sure it works and the fees aren't exhorbitant.

Seems like you could do travelers cheques from AMEX, or similar travelers debit/credit cards from Visa and MC that act like traveller's cheques.  Plus the security of replacement if lost or stolen - versus cash which is just gone if somebody nicks your bags.

I haven't used the paper travelers checks in ages and doubt people use them, but might work for a bank?

probably just a way to get a $30 tip.  Just go ahead and charge $450 already.  I also like the ads where they give a discount to members of certain boards or for those that "book in advance".  The discount is an odd number and surely you won't take advantage of it.

It's the same thing when I buy condoms at the drug store in the 36 pack, I usually look at the old woman at the register and say something like "busy weekend coming up" It's usually good a laugh, or at least a nervous chuckle. lol

I do take your point, Erin. However, I've lived in towns so small there's not so much as a single stoplight. If you're trying to hobby in a town like that, the bank teller is the least of your worries for getting outed. Unless of course she's a provider on the side and she gets pissed you're not spending the money on her, lol. Isn't there usually a larger town within 50 miles?

Love the part about the wink and a nod and walk out like a boss!
