I have a surprise week off and was looking for advice on some good places to travel.
What are some good hobby areas where an English speaker can get around with few difficulties?

Thank you in advance. PM is also welcome.

The Del Rey in San Jose and The Cocal in Jaco have been extensively discussed here and would suit you fine. I just don't want to repeat what I and others have written over the past months.

and is perfect for a week's vacation. I plan on doing just that this coming week, but in my case I do that about twice a month. lol

BTW, being able to speak Spanish is helpful, but hardly necessary.

European feel with in North America.

Great mix of ladies, reasonable priced.

Stay away in winter if you don't enjoy the cold

Head to Vegas.  The flight to Vegas from LA is short. I prefer to drive, once you hit I15 everyone drives 90 mph plus. It's like a nascar race without turns.  And stop in the In and Out burger in Barstow
